In https://openwrt.org/toh/asus/rt-ac51u the sysupgrade & factory image links are both the same.
Did you read the installation instructions?
Yes. Are they both supposed to use sysupgrade.bin? I've just downloaded the factory image for 24.10.1. I haven't used 24.10.0 yet. I'm waiting to flash as I'm waiting for another part to arrive.
Yes, instructions say to use asus tool with sysupgrade file.
You can use the TFTP method without using the ASUS Firmware Restoration Tool, right? I use Linux so I have to use the TFTP method. There are two methods to do it.
The links shouldn't be the same as I understand it.
Same sysupgrade file for asus, tftp and sysupgrade.
What happens if I instead use the factory image for 24.10.1? There are two files: sysupgrade & a factory image file (openwrt-24.10.1-ramips-mt7620-asus_rt-ac51u-initramfs-kernel).
That is NOT factory image, it is kernel and in-memory root to netboot via serial connection to bootloader.
I don't understand that. Are you saying I need to use sysupgrade for 24.10.1? Thanks. So for this router one file is needed rather than the usual two?
That's what we've been saying from the beginning...
