Is there x86_amd64 version not layered on top of a virtual machine

hi there i was wondering if there a version amd64 openwrt firmware that is not layered on top of virtual machine as it appears to be with the version I downloads and installed on a intel router board .. as that version take so so long to boot. where as native version (arm) i use, boot up in 1/10 of the time. considering how much more memory and cpu this intel router board has ( 16gigs of memory and 2.5ghz quad core cpu) i would of thought it be faster to boot then the arm board ( 1gig of memory and 1.6 ghz 2 core cpu) the arm will boot in 30 seconds the much bigger intel board upwards to 3 minutes to boot

OpenWrt runs on bare metal, not on a virtual machine. You did download the x86 version from the official repository, right? (It does not contain "amd64" in its filename, by the way.)

That seems excessive. You could try dmesg to see what is taking so long in the boot process.

I downloaded this one - https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/22.03.3/targets/x86/64/openwrt-22.03.3-x86-64-generic-ext4-combined.img.gz ( perhaps it wrong one for my board)-- when i watch it boot on monitor it mentions virtual machine and virtual network cards installation ( hence why I thought it was loading a virtual machine) . then after that it blanks the screen and it a few minute wait after that it finally finishes loading .. I will check and get back to you on the dmesg but I have to go out for the next several hours

by the way I did not install on a virtual machine - I just flashed the entire drive with the firmware I downloaded then rebooted the device so not sure why it says virtual machine when booting I just suspected it was openwrt firmware .. okay i am off for now back later.

The image simply includes various drivers, including virtual NICs and the VM-capable kernel. If it boots on your bare metal, you're good.

This occurs at a certain point the boot process, did you press Enter?

Try passing nomodeset as a param to the kernel, in grub.

okay it might not be a virtual machine but but it far from functioning good-- so I put a stopwatch on it it actually alot worse then I thought over 8 minutes to start or reboot..

from reboot - 7 seconds to reach the bios beep . another 7 seconds to get pasted the grub. so that 8 minutes to boot from grub.. . at 7minutes 45seconds the network comes up another 15 seconds and then the login appears. if you watch from terminal it is approximately 2 seconds for each step until the last 20 seconds then they fly by at the rate my arm loads for the entire possess

it is NOT running on virtual machine it is running natively on on intel hardware- i just logged in to the webportal and rebooted it from there showing the a snapshot of the stop watch and the login page

bios beep --when the computer reboots and you have the initial single bios beep that tell you it functioning properly. if it beeps in code then it tells you what issue the board is having

I have ARM cpu router bases not X86_64 based routers base and it was just a comparison to boot up time

8 minutes is a very long time for bare metal...less than 60 seconds is normal for me.

Provide information on motherboard, CPU, memory, etc.

(Just to make sure the OS sees it correctly.)

Your CPU is locking up. Could be either a hardware fault or a kernel bug.

Can you boot a different Linux OS (not OpenWRT) on this device and look at dmesg? EDIT: and see if the freezes during boot still occur.

okay i checked the purchase order it suppose to be an N1360 - with 8 gig memory ( i thought 16 but that for another router I have) 128 gig mSATA cpu is an up 2.24 ghz -- it also a extreme low power board of under 5w it also has programmable GPIO

okay will try I orginally had shipped with windows 11 and it functioned fine. will load linux from a usb if that would suffice
but when I installed openwrt I used a boot usb linux to install and it boot quick as normally does.

Yeah, for comparison I have two bare-metal x86 installs of OpenWrt. My APU2 (AMD Jaguar) shows time=19s in dmesg when the last NIC comes active and I can connect, my Celeron N5105 hits the same point at 15s (these both exclude the BIOS/EFI startup part where the clock sits at 0.0, but that's only a second or two on both boxes). I have no Wifi cards on either, so that speeds things up a bit.
