This small SMD module can carry CNVi and PCIe, the small cluster of pins in the middle of the module is the CNVi and only compatible with specific PCH only

Thanks for this info. Unfortunately this might be for a different component as there is an extra array of pads around the central 8 ground pads which are simply not present in the one I have.

Those rows of pads are for CNVi, something like this

That module is CNVi only, will not compatible if the PCH is not designed for it.

Be careful when you try to replace these, some laptop might only have CNVi wired and not PCIe, those can be only upgraded with compatible CNVi module and can't be upgrade from WiFi 5 to WiFi 6
