You need to put country code in wifi configuration like you had before. iw set is just impromptu fixup to list adapter capabilities.
Shown adapters are hwsim not iw#### style, i.e now its just emulated device that does no radio communication.

First you install intel wifi kmods, and demonstrate here they are installed. No point stretching this that checkbox just disappears overnight without you saying you changed.

no-go is that you sip up information somewhere else, and you come here with just backscatter.
You have to find your path via wiki, probably resetting device. hwsim does not install by itself.
