Please bare with me i am very new to this.
I am following the NetworkChucks guide to set up openwrt on raspberry pi. I have gotten as far as "ifconfig wlan1 up", ik get the error "SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device". The device shows In lsusb. Do I have the correct drivers? if not how do I even download drivers?

You need to install kmod-mt76-usb and/or kmod-mt76x2u, that should support your WiFi adapter.
To install this do I type “install kmod-mt76-usb“ or “install kmod-mt76x2u”
Or do I need any different wording like opkg install
