Increasing tx and rx ring buffer size

Greetings,

We have TP-LINK 1043ND v3 installed with 15.05 and TP-LINK 1043ND v4 installed with 17.01.
We are using ethtool -g ethX to get preset maximum ring buffer size and the current ring buffer size. The 1043ND v3 shows a preset maximum rx and tx buffer to be 512 but a newer model 1043ND v4 shows the preset maximum tx size, rx size as 128 and 256 respectively.We suspect our program is performing poorly when using v4 because of this low buffer size.
Is there any way to increase the Pre-set maximus in openWRT/LEDE?
