is there some problem with the ath10k driver and the full hostapd installation?
If I select full hostapd install, the 5 GHz interface is not showing up.
Selecting hostapd-common works.
What is the full set of packages based on hostapd that you are installing? You may be breaking your build by force installing the "wrong" version. Installing wpad or a variant should automatically include/install the proper hostapd dependencies.

Ahhhhhh. 
I tried to install hostapd instead of hostapd-common. ^^
Now I try wpad instead of wpad-mini.
