Help creating a RPi travel router using GUi setup?

This is no big deal: we just need to get the radio you want in the the lan (br-lan).

give me a sec to get the navigation right and I'll append this reply.

Check in LuCI interfaces/wwan->edit/firewall settings. Is wwan in the wan firewall zone?

yes it is, when I opened the wwan interfaces page the device is unspecified if that matters though

That is typical when a radio is in there.

let me look again

It has been a while since I set up a travel router so bear with me.

in both radios in edit-> general setup (bottom) set the networks to relayd. save 0 save1 and then save and apply.

then try to surf.

added relayd to both networks, still getting the "cannot connect to openwrt" when trying to connect via iphone. On the wireless overview page, the OpenWrt network has "--- dBm" though

because nothing is associated.

try another device. if not change to channel 6 and try.

If still no
cat /etc/config/network
cat /etc/config/wireless
we cannot use WDS because of all the different hotspot APs/servers.

They are on different subnets like 192.168.1.x &192.168.2.x?

tried another device and channel 6, still no luck

I ran both cat commands but don't see a subnet for radio1

not sure how to check the subnets. Sorry I am new to all of this and tried to take on a project that I * thought* would be something easy/fun getting started in IT and it's proving to be more trouble than it might be worth at this point.

Something is weird when a device cannot connect to an AP with no security. That is the easiest AP to join.

Please post the cat calls.

Just PM to me so I can see everything and you don't need to redact anything.

data

You can see the networks are talking to each other.

I can't find a way to PM on your profile

Click my avatar and hit the letter.

maybe I can't because I just joined? Sorry I feel like a complete idiot right now and I really appreciate you trying to help

Don't feel bad: there is an entire thread of people that cannot get travelmate to work.

Ok, hate to forget something easy. Just in case you ever had a AP named OpenWrt with security, forget the network and then try.

Travel router is not the easiest because all the radios people buy and the ones that won't work.

Yeah unfortunately the video I watched made it look super easy lol

I forgot the networks and tried again, same result. I'm going to take a break and walk a way for a bit.
