Get the mac addresses of all devices in the area

Hello.

I do not want to keep Wifi 2.4 for the sake of one device, which, moreover, is used very rarely. I would like to make it so that when this device appears on the air, the point itself rises, and when the device disappears, it is disconnected.

I probably need to use a mac address scan. How can I do a scan of all the devices to get the mac addresses of all the devices in the area? Preferably do without installing any additional software, and if that's not possible, the most minimalistic one will do.

Any other suggestions?

That idea doesn't work. Your 2.4 GHz radio won't ever see your 2.4 GHz client, without being up and working (all the time). Clients make the connection, the AP just passively waits to be contacted.

Other ideas?

Script that comes up, scans, goes down if not found on a timer?
Sounds like a convoluted fix.

Any other ideas?

Leave 2.4ghz on permanently and forget the problem.
No other ideas from me, it’s a bit of a weird problem; you’re going to need a weird solution. And you’d have to be willing to get your hands dirty.
