Fortigate 200D

hi
i was try to put openwrt on fortigate 200D
i did get out ssd from the box , i did write image openwrt-23.05.2-x86-64-generic-ext4-rootfs.img on the ssd
mount everithing back , but not work
fortigate 200d has intel proc x64 2.5ghz
4 gb ddr and 64gb ssd

i did make this on other small pc and did work without problem
here i think the bios of the fortigate not boot other software

now my fortigate 200d it s unuseful because firmware it s gone from ssd

any help if it s possible

thank s a lot

i was try to do this because fortigate has no licence anymore
firmware was old , to put last one i need to have licence from fortigate

i realise harware are compatible with openwrt , opnsense , pfsense , etc
all nic cards are intel pro 1000

We don't know pretty much anything about this hardware, so it's up to you to find out.

the good parts

  • it seems to offer (easy) serial console access for debugging, use it

the bad parts

  • 2+16+2 ethernet ports (very most likely) implies an onboard switch, detaching direct network interface access from the outside, this will need drivers (which may not exist).
  • "SPU NP4Lite network processor" implies very custom hardware, which would require driver support (which, again likely doesn't exist) or some way to circumvent it
  • "SPU CP8 content processor" implies very custom hardware, which would require driver support (which, again likely doesn't exist) or some way to circumvent it
  • it's expensive and exotic, not exactly great conditions to find someone (else) motivated to buy one and work on it, given the very specialized one-off hardware that's only meant to be used by their subscription based OS, neither of this makes success very likely (the same goes for Cisco, Palo Alto and similar devices)

The internet says that the cpu is celeron g540, what console says?

yes
correct

so
i realise i can t make it work with other distribution ( software )
will only work with fortigate original software
now my problem is i do not have original software , i can t get it from fortigate because i have to pay for support
i can fix it only if somebody will give me software for it
i hope i will find somehow
thank s a lot

Did you tried to run it from flash drive? Both images with efi or without?

That is only an image of the root partition, not the whole disk. It isn't complete for an installation and since it does not contain a kernel, it is not bootable by itself. Use the ext4-combined or ext4-combined-efi image.

I'd try to get a recent vanilla Linux up and running 1st, to see if the hw supported, then move over to Openwrt.

but i am familiar with openwrt too
