Fibocom FM190W-GL working with OpenWRT Banana Pi R4

So i started this project as my current location has no proper method of internet, however i can get decent 5g. on my GLiNET Slate AX3000 which uses RM520N-GL i get 700/100 (official firmware).
i however sold that device to a friend. i then purchased a ZBT Z8102AX (official OpenWRT from here) also with a RM520N-GL and things were great. however, my parents provide increased prices so much that we have to rejoin them as new customers to get 50% discount. very silly so in the mean time they are using it. i have another ZBT Z8102AX(Official OpenWRT from here) and purchased a FM190W-GL as it uses a newer Snapdragon modem. unfortunately i was unable to ever get the modem to work and have since been plugging my device and tethering instead. i kept getting a sim not found message or SIM_ILLEGAL_STATE.
the FM190W-GL seller insisted it was due to it being unsupported by ZBT.
low behold a new purchase, Banana PI R4.
i have since built on firmware selector an image with QMI and all its modules. still i get the illegal state message on the banana pi r4 as before.
anyone got any tips to get it working?

read OpenWrt with FM190W-GL module - cannot detect SIM
and FM190W-GL OpenWrt Built-in (Request Guidance) ?

read both of them. followed the instructions. ive been trying for a few months. been reading the forum a lot. i cant get the sim read properly by the fibocom module it seems and i dont know why as the sim works in other devices

Did you read the modem documentation? As I mentioned on another thread, the SIM is read by the modem itself, that has nothing to do with OpenWrt (most of the time).
Show the output of the following commands:

AT+MSMPD?
AT+GTDUALSIM?
AT+GTUSBMODE?

Thanks Andrew, i did read your link and used it when i was on the ZBT Z8102AX. i didn't have much luck. however, i'm trying to do it now in the banana pi and i can't even see my modem as a usb device. i can see cdc-wdm0 when i dmesg. i am booting of the SD Card currently in the banana pi

so i can't picocom the right device and send the AT commands currently

That's weird because I can:

Please show the output of cat /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices

i see that but not as a USBtty device like i used to in the other device and when i type picocom /dev/cdc-wdm0 i get a fatal error

here is the output

Install kmod-usb-serial-option if not installed and re-read USB information again.

can that be installed at the same time as kmod-usb-serial-qualcomm?
part of the QMI tutorial it says to use kmod-usb-serial-option or kmod-usb-serial-qualcomm
i opted for qualcomm as the chip is qualcomm based. can i have both installed or do they have a comflict?

Yes, but kmod-usb-serial-qualcomm is not needed.

so i will try find a port that does accept my picocom AT commands and report back

Hi Andrew,
picocom is now hanging on all /dev/ttyUSB0,/dev/ttyUSB1,/dev/ttyUSB2,/dev/ttyUSB3
1 of them should work so a bit confused

Try to reboot/reset and then try the 3rd interface only, /dev/ttyUSB2

`type or paste code here`

seems to have worked. to get the data

AT+MSMPD?

AT+GTDUALSIM?

Set AT+GTDUALSIM=0
I would also change the mode to MBIM with AT+GTUSBMODE=30 and then follow https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wan/wwan/ltedongle

I was told to change the mode to 32 but i have changed it back to 30

will this utilise the modem in full speed, i.e. not in usb mode but in pcie mode?

This only changes configuration or composition while the modem is in USB mode.

is there any other mode it can be in apart from USB mode for max speeds? i'm trying to run when i'm not even crawling

The illegal state error has re-appeared and i've made no changes apart from the previous instructions you sent

i appreciate the assistance

Your modem is currently working on USB3. I have not seen any mention of this modem operating via PCI probably besides this one.

Please show the current state of:

AT+CPIN?
AT+CGDCONT?

haha guess what modem i have? the same one as that guy and he's using the banana pi too.

should i blank out the apn and IP?
