FAP-421E Replacement

I have a Fortinet FAP-421E AP (got it from the company as they replaced the entire wifi network) with OpenWrt 24.10.0 (r28427-6df0e3d02a). Flashed about 1.5 years ago as snapshot back then (was not yet in the final package). I never liked the AP but free stuff is free :slight_smile: and it works okay-ish. Not the most stable in general but as long you dont screw around too much its fine.

I would like to have an AP where I can have openwrt (even if its not the default) without having too much to fiddle around (preferably via gui flash/update) and is good enough for the next decade. Don’t care about wifi 7/6 (5 maybe but not important). Money is not a concern as long its cheap :smiley:

Can you suggest a POE capable AP only? Or Shall I stick with the FAP?

Happy with the EAP615-Wall here, ZyXEL has an NWA50AX. The Pro version of the latter has a bit more bandwidth and a 2,5GbE uplink. All MediaTek AX platforms, come with PoE, and supported by OpenWrt.
