Does Xiaomi BE3600 (RD15) support openwrt?

Does Xiaomi BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 router support openwrt?

No, it's not supported.

I know this takes time (probably years), but there is something about the soc? Some info about the difficult to be ported? A wifi7 with 2.5G Ethernet router for 50€ it's a good starting point.

AFAIK it's running the IPQ53xx SoC, there's no support for it in the kernel.

Qualcomm chipset. I wouldn't hold your breath for support anytime soon unfortunately. Shame because it's a lot of router for the money.

The most discouraging spec is the 256mb of ram considering wifi6 driver needed 512 for operation with latest openwrt kernel so this be3600 has slim to non support chances.

I suppose you say that comparing with the ipq807x, where only devices with 512Mb or more exist.
If this new soc has devices with 256Mb maybe is because it needs less memory. But without kernel support we will not know.

it's beacause the old(er) kernel and drivers require less RAM.

See https://openwrt.org/inbox/toh/xiaomi/xiaomi_ax1800 not supported because lack of ram - search these forums

I'm running Xiaomi BE3600 for 3 months in my house, and it performs really good enough.

Linux Kernel seems to add support for IPQ5312 in 6.5. I checked the 6.10-RC1. /drivers/soc/qcom/socinfo.c file so it has board definition for qualcom_board_id(IPQ5312)

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=7f6e0028a0ca4317aeb070084e72d44ca39ace7e

Ram restriction is a problem, but BE3600 already running a modified version of openwrt by Xiaomi. BE3600 deserves OpenWRT please add support for it.

Kind Regards,

This answer is not so kind, I will try to do it for sure.
Anyway thanks for your answer

reality bites.

if you want to supported, you'll have to put in the time.

I saw on your profile that you are using openwrt on 4-5 different devices.
How many of them did you port openwrt for?

If you added support for them please let us know how can we add support for BE3600. Please...

have you got SSH access, if so can you confirm how much RAM this has, I believe it has 256MB.

according to Xiaomi BE3600 - WikiDevi.Wi-Cat.RU it's only 256MB and if it's confirmed it will NEVER receive OFFICIAL openwrt support @pasha

Unfortunately there is no ssh access for know,
thank you for your kind answer.

Dear @maurer,

Thank you very much for your answer;
I understand that, but soc is really powerful and wifi signal strength is powerfull too.
Somehow official or unofficial if we had a chance to run openwrt on it, it will be perfect cheap Wifi-7 router for the community.
Thank you again,

no, it could have been ...
