Disable telnet port - IP camera

Great! It worked with this. Now the question is what other security solutions could be devised to make it less physically manipulable. This article describes how to hack this camera. I would need a solution that would leave a trace if someone tried to hack it. I don't know, is there a secure camera? It seems this was not the best choice.

Physically?? Well, mount it in a place that is difficult to reach. There are security locks to physically lock the ethernet cable into the port. Make sure your wiring and your router are not easy to access, either.

From a network security standpoint, you can set the firewall such that no connections can be initiated from the camera VLAN to your trusted LAN (it can still respond to requests that are initiated from the trusted LAN). This means that if someone does remove the camera and tries to connect to the network, they won't really get anywhere. And if someone hacks the camera to do something malicious, it will not be able to access anything ("you mustn't speak unless spoken to"). You could potentially put a script in place to detect a disconnection, and maybe trigger a lockdown of the camera VLAN if one is detected. doesn't stop what someone might do to the camera, but could protect your network and give you a heads up that someone did mess with it.
