DGND3700 v2 - Boot loop after installation non stop

It doesn't start anymore, it restarts constantly .. help

what device?

what exactly did you do?

Bye thank you,
model netgear dgnd 3700v2 a little old, but for experiments it is perfect ...
The procedure is the classic , stopped the boot of the router with keyboard connected via serial TTL adapter, manual ip I go 192.168.1.1 and snapshot flashing, stable is not there  ...
Tried with the latest 20 releases ...
in the past a September version had been successfully flashed ..
Thanks and sorry my english

... with today's release it doesn't work ...
Any new idea or test to run? :sleepy:

where do I find if it is possible, the June version ??
.... to try....
Grazie

  1. try from stable branch snapshot
    https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=21.02-SNAPSHOT&target=bcm63xx%2Fsmp&id=netgear_dgnd3700-v2

  2. start a bug report
    https://bugs.openwrt.org/

  3. you can build your own image
    https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-developer/quickstart-build-images

after git clone, go to the time where the board was added
git checkout 62e7342ddfba605722b1d6700eec3f0aaa9377e5
git checkout -b dgnd3700v2

then continue to build like the guide says

This also doesn't work .... :sleepy:

I had already tried to compile my release, without success, now I try as you said ..

I don't know how to open a ticket

ok done, hope :upside_down_face:

here

Hello,
The boot loop remains in 21.02.0 rc2. I saw this problem first after second time flashing the initial squashfs install. (including the new cfe from openwrt.) First install from original firmware went ok.
Even an additional round of flashing the original firmware and start again with flashing the cfe+squashfs won't solve the problem. (boot loop remains)
So problem might occur as a result of a change to openwrt cfe and afterwards not changed to the original state of boot env with netgears original firmware. Is the cfe bootloader install self-aware/safe?

But that was before I wiped my entire flash accidentally. So no cfe environment anymore. Serial line is dead. So only way back is by jtag. Did anyone already identified the necessary pins yet?

I just installed 21.02.1 from stock through the CFE web interface, and I do not have a bootloop. I'm not sure if the problem is fixed or if it just manifests itself upon a second install (as gromx said)

Hi.
Just install 22.03.5. It works. I experimented a few (changed wifi card), than decide to fresh reinstall. Than I went into the bootloop :frowning: So My guess is that the second install is fatal.

Other than going back to using the original netgear firmware, is there no solution to be able to use openwrt again?

Hi.
I used a serial link to monitor every process, and have access to console command.
OpenWrt can be flashed from Netgear firmware. It boots, nevertheless boot fails after 5s. It's unabled to mount a partition.

Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

I logged both Openwrt and Netgear and tried to find any difference, such as boot adress. I also listed the boot variables, but was unable to notice something worthy.
Ultimatly, I tried to use command for erasing NAND and totally bricked the device. The boot is CFE and I had to discover it.
Conclusion : no success. I'm pretty sure that it's nothing serious to be fixed, but I was unable to find it.
