DFOTA upgrades for Quectel LTE modules

Hi,
is there a simple way to upgrade the LTE module firmware on Quectel LTE modules?

I've already read that:

ZyXEL NR7101

I own a Zyxel LTE5398-904, but the upgrade procedure using stock firmware is the same for different Zyxel routers (and Netgear/Mikrotik router too)

I have downloaded the DFOTA firmware

Note that this method requires a complete upgrade in a single file as an opposite to incremental DFOTA file(s).
It would be good to mention the modem name and existing firmware version.

You will need to install qmi-utils which contains the qmi-firmware-update tool. Also make sure that uqmi or modemmanager don't interfere with the modem while updating (ie. remove or disable the wwan interface).

You will need to (temporarily) switch the modem to QMI mode for firmware update. MBIM mode can also work as there is QMI-over-MBIM.

This is absolutely not what I recommend.

I had already read that post, but it wasn't the "simple" solution I was looking for.

In my mind, OpenWRT should be used by anyone, without being a developer or geek.
Am I wrong to think like this?

Since "here" is the only source of support, you might have to be, to some extent.

There is no need to upgrade the modem firmware. OpenWrt will work fine with any version.
