Davidc502- wrt1200ac wrt1900acx wrt3200acm wrt32x builds

Hi David!
I just downloaded the new firmware from your server and is still the old one! The 4.19.85 kernel version

Dear Dave -
Happy Holidays first of all to you and yours. Thanks for the new build; however by way of feedback -
I have been having a devil of a time trying to set up DNS OVER TLS on this build. This has never happened before on any of your previous or the other OpenWrt Firmware I have ever used. droneando indicates that there is a discrepancy in the kernel being listed for this build. I do not know what is causing the issues that I am having - but I do suspect something is going on "under the hood "which may need some fine tuning on this particular build. Thanks for the hard work and dedication you demonstrate in keeping this great project up and running.
Peace on Earth

Hi,
first of all I should thank for your time and effort on this project. But this forum is not for thank you but for complaints :grinning:
I use Davidc502 builds for a year and everything is working smooth.
With the latest build I have a problem though,
devices can't connect on the guest network anymore, the client for example android devices say "Obtaining IP address" and the routers web panel on wireless settings " Wireless is not associated"

That came on the latest build. Is there any way to go around; Thank you for your time.

Thank you for letting me know. This time it should be working correctly.

Hi David - just a heads up, I have downloaded the 3200 sysupgrade file from your website and it is still showing the 78706 hash from last version and not the newest adede8f. Thanks for everything as always.

May be your browser cache? All looks correct.

These are all the hashes and they line up.

If your talking about the Wireless page not showing connected devices on wireless simply press the restart button on both WiFi devices on that page, it's a LUCI bug.

Thank you for asking. no I am not talking about this but this....

Have you checked the options for country and power is on Device Driver? Sometimes that helps.

Yes I have experimented with all options...My hope is on developer for the next build. For sure I can survive without guest network for a while. I use it to connect untrusted devices mostly.

Dear Dave -
Hello and I wrote you earlier on concerning DNS OVER TLS ( STUBBY & UNBOUND ) not allowing an internet connection on this most recent BUILD ( r11627 - dated 2019-12-07 - time 19:13 ) As I said - I do not have any idea what is causing the issue; however, there are comments which have been made which indicate that this Build's networking is a bit quirky. I am prepared to wait for the next Build if needs be. However, I would like a response from you in terms of your having any feedback as to what might be causing this issue. Also, have you uploaded a different set of this current Build's Firmware since initially doing so? I hope that I have not worn you out about devcrypto So I hope to hear from you soon
Peace

I FOUND THE PLACE WHERE THINGS WENT OFF THE RAILS FOR DNS OVER TLS :
Normally by the force of habit I stop and disable dnscrypt - others may wish to uninstall it- ; however dnscrypt is enabled by default ( after reading logs ) - and this conflicts with ( Stubby and Unbound Combo ) I am writing this for those who may encounter a similar issue in the future. I was a bit sloppy here - Build works well - please excuse my error in reporting the aforementioned issue

Have just installed the latest build and had a few issues with dns. I think it was to do with dnscrypt proxy v2 which I installed (probably manually) a few months ago.
I think the latest build created a dnscrypt-proxy.toml file in /etc/dnscrypt-proxy2 where I had one under /etc/config
I'm not sure what got my dns working, but it was probaly one of two things:
1 - I made some changes to /etc/dnscrypt-proxy2 /dnscrypt-proxy.toml on this line: "listen_addresses = ['127.0.0.1:5300']" - It might have had something like 127.0.0.53:53 in there before.
2 - I changed a firewall rule _DNS for 53 which showed "Source zone 'Device (output)'", and had a blank output zone. I disabled that rule and added a new one for source zone lan, destination zone 'Device (input)'.

Now I'm back up and running I have 2 questions:
Q1: Do any of my changes sound dangerous ???
Q2: Is there a way to get back to default settings which will won't break with upgrades etc. I'm keen to make sure adblock stays working with all of this.

Many thanks to @davidc502 and others for putting together such a great system, and putting so much time in to provide great support.

Everything sounds fine. We made the change to the built in dnscrypt-proxy2, so I'm glad you found where the new configuration lives. As to your settings, they will be saved for the next upgrade I.E. the .toml file will be saved over to the correct directory and will work.

I upgraded from r11266 to r11627 and unfortunately dnscrypt-proxy v2 gives me the following errors in the log after perhaps a half hour (in the first part of the log below, things are good):

and on and on…

Any ideas? I've always had max_clients in the toml file set at 250 and never had this error. There must be some kind of parasitic loop. I've basically had trouble after r11266 and feel like I'm being left behind in the dust.

Increase the max connections for DNS, I had this issue on my personal builds. I set mine to 1500 and it's been fine ever since.

Hello,
I have since today a wrt3200acm and i flashed davids build. So far no erros while flashing but my internet speed is really bad in using wifi. I only get 20mbit download where it must be 300mbit. testet with a asus wrt1200. is there any advise which i can follow to find the error ?

What are your wifi settings? 2.4 or 5Ghz? What device is being used to connect to wifi, and have you tried other devices?

With the 3200acm there should be no problem getting 400mbps down with any recent phone models.

Hi i tried to opkg install wireguard and luci-app-wireguard (https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/vpn/wireguard/start) but returned unable to install , is there a specific way to do it on wrt32x build ? Thank you

Hi,
hmmmm its strange. after i wok up i did a speedtest and everything seems ok.even on other devices. Mate10 Pro, 2 Other Laptops, 2 Sony Xperia 5, 1 Enigma 2 Receiver with Wireless and with Gigabit., no Problems so far actually...

my 5g seetings are in router
AC Mode on Channel 36 80MHZ

My Laptop has a Killer Wireless 1535
So it is connected to the Router with 866,7Mbit/s. So far no Problems but what i find strange is that i was yesterday also connected with the same Speed and everytime i only got 20Mbit/s download. The Gateway Router was not affected by this issue. Maybe this Autoswitching from the radios was the problem.
This is what i see in the wireless menu. it is switching from one to another radio? every 2 or 3 seconds. is this ok ? can i disable that ?

780.0 Mbit/s, 80MHz, VHT-MCS 9, VHT-NSS 2
866.7 Mbit/s, 80MHz, VHT-MCS 9, VHT-NSS 2, Short GI

regards

bOcy

I always install wireguard after upgrading to a new davidc502 build on my WRT1900ACS. The commands I use are:

opkg update
opkg install luci-proto-wireguard luci-app-wireguard wireguard kmod-wireguard wireguard-tools

I usually need to reboot thereafter but it works every time.
