Creating a separate SSID for a WireGuard instance

Hi everyone!

I have recently decided to sign up for Mullvad VPN, and would like to easily be able to take advantage of that service through my OpenWRT router.

My goal is simple: I would like to set up Mullvad VPN on a separate SSID on my network so when I want to connect to my Mullvad VPN all I have to do is switch networks. I have already followed the directions on Mullvad's website on setting up the WireGuard instance in interfaces, but the direction go on to set it up router wide and I don't want to do that.

My problem: I am very much a noob when it comes to setting up networking and configuring things related to networking. I am learning as I go.

There are a few threads that already talk about doing this, but some of the configuration settings that are talked about are going a bit over my head. If someone could walk me through the process and ELI5, I will do my best.

I am very familiar with the Linux terminal (my main PC is running Linux full time) and I understand SSH, if those things are going to be required.

Specifically, I found this thread which talks about doing something similar to what I want, but halfway through the thread the OP gets very rude and there stops being useful information.

And then there's this thread that also talks about doing what I want to do, but there are several steps I do not understand.

Maybe this whole thing is too complex for my skill level but I would like to give it a shot.

Not a good start, ask mulvad for paid ip help

What do you mean?
