Hello,
I have had openWRT on my router since this week.
I have a device that is always downloading files.
Can I set this device to always run at such a low speed that it does not interfere with the other devices?
The advice is to create a guest network, which can be either Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and ensure that the client or clients are on this network.
then you can use this trick (if a fixed limit in kb/s is enough for you):
or install “luci-app-nft-qos”:
ps: the correct search is this:
Thank you but as I tried to described a fixed limit its not what I want.
Also the device is already in an iot interface.
Can you describe better what you'd like to achieve?
Give an example of how you'd like things to go.
Perhaps someone else has the right solution for you.
When no other device needs the internet Device A should get no limit.
When a other device needs internet, the other device should get no limit and the Device A should only get that much speed that the other device dont notice it.
if one or more device(s) need(s) x% of the internet speed:
device A should get 100%-x% of the internet
else:
device A should get 100% of the internet
So, if a particular device (A) is the sole client using the network, disable?
Describe in detail the amount of "speed that the other device dont notice it." What is that amount?
- What if the device needs 100%?
- How is this determined (or are you asking the forum users to determine it for you)?
it depends on how much internet they need. This is not constant but variable.
If the other devices need the full speed, device A should not have any internet at all.
Perhaps it will be clearer if I explain what I want to do:
I want to be able to watch movies (i.e., FreeTube, Netflix, etc.) while my game console downloads games.
