Hi all you wonderful people out there. I have tried searching OpenWHT to see if there is a solution already built but might have missed it.
The problem.. I have a metal skinned camper which is a great Faraday Cage cutting out Cellular Network signal. I installed a Strong 1200 router with dual remote antenna to the outside of the van skin.. works great but I am hoping OpenWHT might be able to configure the router to bypass having a Sim. Iritates me that my phone already has a sim that i pay for.. that connects to the Strong 1200 which has a second sim I have to pay for..! Can I turn it in to a straight forward repeater?
You could do tethering, using your phone for wwan. But then you would need to mount your phone outside your Faraday cage.
Hi reinerotto thank you. I have the dual router antenna on the outside leading to the1200 router on the inside to bring the signal inside of the van. What I am needing is to change is the router into a repeater.
These types of devices do not operate as cellular repeaters. That type of boost/repeater functionality requires specific purpose-built devices that can emulate a cellular base station.
