Can't factory reset Archer A7, credentials bad

So clearly you can ssh into the router. But you are having trouble with the web interface, right? Have you tried resetting your browser cache or tried another browser entirely?

The sizes reported by df seem right... the device has 16MB flash storage and 128MB RAM.

Yes I did, pardon my failing to mention that. Yeah, that messes with my head just a smidge. I login via ssh with root/blank but the same credentials result in no change on the browser login screen. An interesting effect I observe is that browsing to 192.168.1.1 loads url http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/ and clicking "Goto password configuration" on the login screen loads http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/admin/system/admin, but I'm still at the login screen. Quite the brainteaser.

This part is expected behavior.

This is also expected... except for this:

The above shouldn't happen.

What browswer(s) have you tried? What happens if you simply click the login button? (username: root, password field left blank, click login)

I've tried both Brave and Edge, private mode on Brave.

Update, NavyGuys commands worked, I had forgotten to put the device back in failsafe before resetting jffs2, sorry. I am back in and updating to the most recent firmware. I guess I'll never know exactly what caused those exact symptoms but at least I'll have a starting point if it comes up again. You guys are the best, hope y'all have an awesome weekend!

glad you have it fixed now.

Thanks. I'm still unsure about the hard reset button but I've already performed too much post-fix setup to be bothered. Wish I had thought of that...
