OpenWRT 25.12 started using squashfs4 tool 4.7.4 to create FS images.
When building on a local machine and on GitHub servers, I encountered the fact that the resulting images were broken, which OpenWRT allows you to flash.
I have already created a bug report: https://github.com/plougher/squashfs-tools/issues/339
To get a successful build, I had to roll back the version of the squashfs4 tools:
committed 07:11PM - 04 Jan 26 UTC
I also decided to add a check of the created images to the build system:
committed 10:39AM - 04 Jan 26 UTC

The saddest thing is that several users have already managed to brick their routers. I noticed this nasty scam too late.

I can't imagine how this wasn't noticed earlier, since already in November 2025 all snapshots were compiled with the commit that causes this bug:
committed 09:45PM - 09 Nov 25 UTC
