Hi all,
I have successfully JTAG'd my router, and have CFE loaded. I have tried both firmware versions:-
Model British Telecom (BT) Home Hub 2.0 A
Platform bcm63xx/generic
Version 23.05.5 (r24106-10cc5fcd00)
OpenWrt 17.01.5 (LEDE Reboot) 2018-16-06 lede-17.01.5-brcm63xx-generic-HomeHub2A-squashfs-cfe.bin 4.4.92 
Both of these exhibit the same thing.
All works well following the guides, soft reboot is fine, settings are preserved.
However, when the power is cycled, the hub defaults to the web gui CFE loader, and you have to upload the firmware again, and start from scratch.
Any ideas whats going on here?
