Hi All,
So I tried to flash the openWRT firm ware on my Router. I'm not sure if I used the V1 or V2 firmware. I'm thinking I must have used V1 and have wiped out the recovery function that came with this router... I set the Ethernet IP to manual added 192.168.1.1, added the Mac Address 255.255.255.0. and saved the setting. then push in reset while powering up, hold for 10 seconds, Open browser and type in 192.168.1.1. Nothing happens, The page times out. Holding in the reset for 20 seconds after the router is powered and setting on my desk several minutes does nothing. There are three LED lights on the router. They are 5G-1, 5G-2, and Mesh. The 5G-2 lights up and the mesh but that's it. No flashing LED's, nothing but steady lights on 5G-2 and the mesh LEDs.
I also installed a RM520NGLAP-M20SGASA 5Ghz NR sub6GHz mmWave moduleM2MIMO in the router originally and it was not recognized. I got no modem present. This router came with openWRT originally, but I decided to flash the current openWRT firmware on it to see if it would recognize the RM520N-GL card, but upon reboot the router is bricked. Like I said, I'm not sure if I put V1 or V2 on it... but now it doesn't respond to anything. Any help would be appreciated... But I have to warn that I'm not to quick on this stuff!

"what v1/v2 firmware ?"
The firmware I downloaded had two versions V1 (without recovery GUI) and V2 (with recovery GUI option). My understanding is newer Z8102AX routers have the GUI recovery built in, while the first ones out do not.
"no wonder, that's a bad IP." .
My error... typo. You can see just above where it was typed 192.168.1.1. This is the default IP for this router.
I've tried twice to get firmware on this router. The file I downloaded said there are two versions... I probably screwed that up too.
The file names are... ZBT-Z8102AX-V1\ZBT-Z8102AX-V1-full-GO2024-10-17-upgrade.bin and ZBT-Z8102AX-V2\ZBT-Z8102AX-V2-full-GO2024-10-17-upgrade.bin
Both of these files were in a zip file along with a .txt file and another Zip File named 'SerialRecovery'
The .txt file stated to check and see if the recovery GUI was available by going through the reset procedure. I did this and the router did have the recovery GUI originally. So I loaded V2... I think. At any rate the router is now bricked and I can't figure out how to get back into it. The recovery GUI no longer works. Trying to reset the router after letting it boot and sit for several minutes does nothing. Only two steady LED lights... no flicking or anything. So, I can't get into this router in any way that I've tried.
It appears you are using firmware that is not from the official OpenWrt project.
When using forks/offshoots/vendor-specific builds that are "based on OpenWrt", there may be many differences compared to the official versions (hosted by OpenWrt.org). Some of these customizations may fundamentally change the way that OpenWrt works. You might need help from people with specific/specialized knowledge about the firmware you are using, so it is possible that advice you get here may not be useful.
Ask for help from the maintainer(s) or user community of the specific firmware that you are using.
Provide the source code for the firmware so that users on this forum can understand how your firmware works (OpenWrt forum users are volunteers, so somebody might look at the code if they have time and are interested in your issue).
If you believe that this specific issue is common to generic/official OpenWrt and/or the maintainers of your build have indicated as such, please feel free to clarify.
THANK YOU for the clarity and for removing the post. I tried answering a post with my cell phone and didn't realize my signature would be posted as well. I originally thought it was the comment "fat finger willy".
Again, thanks for the clarity and for keeping my personal info off the net!
I can try to upload the Zip File I used for all to see... I just didn't know if it was permissible to do so. Is that something I can upload here or does it go to a particular place in the forum?
I guess I've bricked this router for good and it's headed to the trash can. I will try the link you provided to try and get back into it, but my skills are very limited on this topic.
Do you have a preference in routers that will work with the RM520N-GL modem I have if this modem is indeed permanently bricked?
I was thinking about using an ethernet to M.2 Modem Adapter with the RM520N-GL modem I have. Using a sled having an ethernet out port will allow me to put it in a weatherproof box up on my antenna tower and cut down on antenna cable lengths. I could then run the ethernet out cable down the tower, into my home, and plug it into a decent router... I figure a sled with ethernet out would be better in this situation than a USB to M.2 sled... thoughts?
I'll give using the serial cable method a shot.
If I can't crack it I'll probably offer it here for the cost of shipping...
You haven't shared your thoughts on which router you would choose to run with this card. My intent is to put a weatherproof box up on my antenna tower outside with the modem in it and then running the data into my home via ethernet into a strong router inside. I think ethernet would be better than a USB cable to get the signal into the house... no?
In the end I guess I'm asking what 5G Router or modem Sled would you use, given I could use either?
