Hi, I loaded the firmware openwrt via web gui of my zyxel ex5601-t0 modem but unfortunately it brick. I bought a ttl usb to connect it to the computer with the pins, I managed to connect but it asks me for a password to access, I tried many passwords such as root admi
But how should I connect the modem to the PC? I can only use the modem via USB TTL serial port. I can't log in with ethernet. the modem is blocked, if I turn it on buy only the power button, the only method would be to enter with putty or other software via serial
I believe others have already tried that on this device and failed. Unfortunately. See other ex5601 threads. But I guess there's no harm in making another attempt. Just don't have too high hopes.
If it doesn't work, is the only solution to throw it in the garbage? I thought it was much easier to log in with USB TTL, in the tutorials they didn't ask for any password. Even watching online and videos, people can access via serial without a password
The bootloader password protection is a feature of some ISP branded versions AFAIU. Presumably to protect against repurposing the device for other networks. There's a discussion of it starting here:
You should probably read all of that to see if there's any solution matching your capabilities. The other alternatives are garbage or selling as a brick to someone willing to attempt a fix
Before loading the openwrt firmware I loaded the no brand zyxel firmware, and it worked. Only when I put the openwrt firmware it completely stopped working. I bought the modem used in Italy and it is marked wind3
Imho you flashed openwrt into ubi2 which is wrong...too you didn't unlock Zhal by setting EngDebugFlag which allows having access to that console you were trying to access to.
Did mine that way and it works perfectly fine but forgot to save factory partition.
Maybe someone could share a dump of the factory partition? I accidentally erased mine. Its mtd2 if you are using ubootmod, or mtd3 if you are on the stock layout. Thanks a lot in advance!
