Belkin F5D8235-4 v1 - LEDE Installation

Hi, I have Belkin F5D8235-4 v1 router with latest stock firmware 1.01.28. I want to upgrade to LEDE 17.01.2, but there is only sysupgrade image of LEDE and no factory image. Can I flash sysupgrade directly from the stock web UI or is there other "easy" way to upgrade? Or do I have to really disassembly the router, access u-boot console via serial and flash firmware via tftp? If this is the only way, which cable/converter do you use to access u-boot via serial? Thank you.

Ok, because I am not patient at all, I went to http://192.168.2.1/ (Belkin stock UI), logged in and accessed http://192.168.2.1/ver.htm and set "firmware header checking" to 0 and applied. Then I again went to 192.168.2.1 and flashed LEDE 17.01.2 via firmware update menu. After upgrade and router restart, I released and renewed IP address and accessed 192.168.1.1 and LUCI webpage appeared. So answer to my question is yes, Belkin F5D8235-4 v1 can be flashed to LEDE via Belkin web UI and it is very easy to do it.

Hi Daniel,

I see you have a v1, and I thank you for posting your positive experience on installing LEDE.

I personally have a F5D8235-4 v2 and had balked at attempting to install because all the information I could find seemed to indicate it needed a serial/JTAG connection, and I didn't want to go that far...

BUT, having said all that, did you eventually get the router to perform OK? I'm not bridging like I saw you try, but I wanted to confirm whether the cabled Ethernet and WiFi work??

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!

Hi, cabled ethernet works on 2 or 3 ports I think (others are not working)
and WiFi works OK. Only problem is with bridging and DHCP addresses as I
described on forum and with updating to newer LEDE firmware. I can not
update over LUCI (getting error), but only via serial/tftp connection. I am
using it only as wifi client for my TV with static IP so I am using 1 LAN
port to TV and WiFi for connection to my wireless router. This works 100%.
