Asus TUF Gaming AX6000 support

Is this value per client, or is the total combined max value the router can throughput in that transmission mode?

Router have MIMO 4x4. Client have mimo 2x2. Its max for mu mimo 2x2. It's max for two spatial streams. You didn't read the page I sent you. Isn't it?

cover light consist of the 3 lights, we implemented support only for one color. Nobody have time to investigate it.

Thanks. At least it gives me some answers.

Hello,

I would like to use the latest stable OpenWRT on my TUF-AX6000. How can I install that? As I can see @remittor created a flashable version in TRX format to be used from the web UI. But that seems to have lots of additional software which I don't necessarily need. Is it possible to flash the stable one (23.05.3) in the image selector through the asus web ui/recovery?

Thanks!

The trx file is used as a first step to get openwrt on Your device.
After that, flash what You want.

Oh, now I understand, thank you! And if something goes wrong during the flashing process how can I revert back to the original Asus firmware?

I have found this video of the process: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FkTcQpwrbNg&pp=ygUSdHVmLWF4NjAwMCBvcGVud3J0 but around 3:14 he doesn't wipe/reset the configuration before flashing. See the unticked. It would be wiser not to retain configs, right? Thanks!

Yes. It's better to reset the configs. Especially if you're switching from a release to a snapshot.

If you just need to return to stock, then you need to use facinstall

I have successfully installed your TRX file, then the stable 23.05.4 from the firmware selector.

Now the AURA RGB at the top of the router shows red colour. Is it normal behaviour? How can I change the colour/turn it off?

OFF: There was an event not long ago which I thought is a stability issue: Internet access was not possible through LAN, but there was service through WiFi. This state remained after reboot. The solution is dumb and prosaic at the same time. The driver for the ethernet controller of my laptop's docking station was faulty, therefore was not any wired connection.

How stable is the router with openwrt? I owned this router when it 1st release but it had too many issues at the time with openwrt. Hopefully it's more stable now mainly for WiFi.

is that with or without sqm?

I had amazing stability until a recent update (I don't have what I was at, but now am at r27179-2ae5bea856).

I just had the first "need to reset the router because all connections dropped" in months.

And after the update, I had to change WiFi settings for some reason so that my printer would be discoverable again (it worked out of the box, update broke it and I had to enable Multicast to Unicast).

I am waiting for a new update to see if the newer mt76 module fixes anything, but right now it feels like stability has regressed. Before this I had probably 3 months with perfect performance and stability.

Note, you must disable TSO: ethtool -K eth1 tso off.

snapshot isn't about stability

Thanks for the info...are you able to downgrade to previous snapshot to regain stability again or create backup? I'm keeping this post below handy posted by @deeddy

True, but for stable hardware I would argue that snapshot isn't really that bad. And when it is, you know it right away because something in the software layer broke. You are correct though, my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt and folks on 23.05.4 should respond.

Plus, I can see many regressions that made it into the mt76 module from their Github, I should have checked that too before updating.

Unfortunately with a string of successful updates, I got lazy and didn't do owut download for my last few updates (I normally do that and keep a list of updates).

I hope whenever the build servers are happy creating a new snapshot, a lot of the fixes from mt76 will be in and it sounds like other folks are happier: https://github.com/openwrt/mt76/commit/65bbd4c394a9d51f1ca5a0531166c22ff07d4e56#commitcomment-145785626

I'm not saying that snapshot shouldn't be used, it's just there is no reason to use latest snapshot for normal usage. One week delay + checking issues in openwrt and mt76 repos can save a lot of time.

From the reliability point of view the best option is to use last stable version. But if you decide to use snapshot version because of some features or offloads you have to know from one site that snapshot could bu unstable but from other site user still wants to be secure and update to last revision of the snapshot when will be affected by some CVE. We know that software depends to kernel releases so when you update your snapshot router usually you jump to the last iteration.
