Asus TUF Gaming AX6000 support

No need to double-post the link :slightly_smiling_face:

Key is the reset-procedure, as described in chapter 3.

Have you tested this method yourself?

I tried it on my router and it didn't work.

A bright thought just came to me.
At the moment, the firmware for AX4200 and AX6000 (not AX59U) has a defect that causes a soft brick if the image size is more than 16MiB.

I discovered this defect a long time ago and immediately fixed it in my builds.

But today I checked branch openwrt-23.05 and no one made any corrections there.

I immediately informed the maintainers about this problem:

Does that mean we should not install 23.05.3 β€œstable” build yet?

Edit: Looks like your pull request was merged and it will probably show up in the next build (when?).

I installed 23.05.3 without a problem, I used remittor's trx first on stock, then flashed the 23.05.3 stable build. Been running good for couple days now, but maybe I got lucky? I tried getting QoS SQM setup but gave up after seeing poor performance and just opted to turn on software/hardware offloading and it runs well. I got unbound installed and working for secure DNS, and setup a wireguard server over ipv6 since tmobile home internet has cgnat on ipv4. I'm happy.

welcome to openwrt

no problem for me too with 23.05.3 on asus

The change regarding the image size (or rather: relocation) was not part of any merged (or even proposed) PR as far as I can see.

Since the AX6000 has received official support since OpenWrt 23.05.3, I would like to ask whether there are other installation options besides
Official: Serial Console
Unofficial: from remittor (Asus TUF Gaming AX6000 support - #151 by remittor)

Thank you!

Doesn't this mean the image size patch was merged? There's a merge notification at the bottom.

No, that's just part of the discussion on a PR that was closed (not merged) - but that change was not even part of the closed PR.

Does that mean we should stick to the snapshots for the moment?

AFAIK it is not in snapshot either.

Yes, I have used the method some time ago, when I reported that a 2nd sysupgrade bricked the router. With success fortunately!

The described problem only affects initramfs images.
Therefore, system ASU can be safely used.

I shouldn't have just made a fuss.

Any idea how to change/turn off the cover led?
In the snapshot it was orange by default, in 23.05 it is yellow and I can only change it to blue.

Does that mean we are safe to install OpenWrt stable, or should we stick to snapshots?

Is there anything that should be done about this comment, or we are fine to use the stable build? I’m still using snapshots, because of the patches.

Yes, of course.

I forgot to update that I got piece_of_cake working and somehow Bufferbloat test by Waveform.com started to work stable even if I was able to verify the connection by stressing the connection and pinging in the same time. I activated SQM only in UL because DL is +3 ms when the connection is loaded and simultaneous DL/UL was quite heavy process which caused decreased DL speed. I already had packet steering enabled but I just installed and enabled irqbalance with it.
Bufferbloat and Internet Speed Test - Waveform

The ONT is Nokia XS-010X-Q and I assume it's bridged but not sure because the operator controls it.

your test is amazing what is the pc than you are is powerfull because SQM with asus ax4200 create buerbloat au dessus de 400mbits /400mbits dl and up

i have also enabled packet steering and irq balance too
