Asus RT-n56u 19.07.3 doesn't work

Hello.
I installed OpenWRT from here. I connect ISP provider cable to WAN. It doesn't work. On OEM stock internet worked. In LUCI interface showed that WAN connected and worked, but ping and trace doesn't work. Try change ip adress on lan interface. It doesn't help.

You need to provide more info. For example:

  • Are you sure that you have a supported version (A1)?
  • What kind of output you get from your ISP device? IP? PPPoE? If you get IP or from your ISP device, then what's the IP of your ISP device LAN interface?
  • Did you make any changes to your WAN interface from the default setup?
  • Yes I have A1
  • I receive IP. It’s not static. 100.85.19.0
  • No. I didn’t change settings in WAN.

Probably a first step to diagnose is to check if your Asus router can access the ISP router and the Internet. So from the command line or from LUCI (http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/admin/network/diagnostics) try to ping.

  • ISP router IP.
  • A Public IP (for example 8.8.8.8).
  • A domain.

I don’t have ISP route. I have in home Fiber Terminal. Cable from terminal I connect to Openwrt router. Ping doesn’t work in LUCI.

In OpenWrt, WAN is set to DHCP client by default. So if you are connecting to FTTH, I imagine you need to change the WAN to PPPoE put in your PPPoE settings (essentially your username and password).

No. Isp doesn’t connected through PPPoE. On original firmware all worked, but when I connect to vpn, router was overloaded.

So if you connect the cable from the terminal to your computer directly, does it work?

Yes. When I connected to router with standard firmware or PC, it’s worked.

That 8 number is a bit strange for the CPU (unless you are confident you haven't changed anything with the VLANs or the switch setup). I don't own this particular model so I can't be sure.

And I am afraid I have no other idea. If you have another router, could you connect its LAN to the WAN port of your Asus and se if you can ping the other router from the Asus? You will need to make sure that the other router isn't on 192.168.1.0 /24.

Other than that, I am afraid I can't be of much help.
