Hi, I just wanted to share my helpful experience at getting the Asus RT-AX1800S to be stable with Openwrt 23.05.5. This router has good reviews but some difficulty with openwrt with dropping connections. I understand this router has a slower CPU and trimmed down Ram compared to others to cut costs, which could make it more challenging environment especially on high-speed fiber Network. I am on a 50 Mbps and have found no matter what I do I couldn't make it stable until I decided to use only 5 gigahertz band with 20 MHz bandwidth. The idea i guess is to slow things down (20mhz), and more stable signal less interference (5ghz). It is being stable as a rock for a couple of weeks now. This could be helpful for someone who doesn't want to spend much on a router but wants to have the flexibility of flashing a non-Asus firmware in a fibreoptic network.
Did you set up wifi country code?
Lets see whats wrong (clear all passwords, last halfs of MAC and IP addreses)
ubus call system board
cat /etc/config/wireless
cat /etc/config/network
cat /etc/config/firewall
cat /etc/config/dhcp
And list any special extra Packages you installed....
Just got around to this now, but yeah, the country code was not set on 2.4GHz band and it was on the 5Ghz band. Makes perfect sense if certain frequencies not supported by the hardware would be attempted.
