Sorry I took a while.
I tried the serial port for the modem side to check if my CP2102 USB 2.0 to TTL is working. It was indeed responding. But the serial port of the router part is not. Is there a way to fix this?
Hey @Gingernut thanks for your upload. Unfortunately I can't get access to it and download the bootloader.

Has anybody found a solution to reduce power consumption og Archer D7 and Archer D50?
Archer C7 power consumption is around 4W, but unfortunately D7 is more than 10W if I do a measurement...
Is there a possibility to cut Broadcom part and just use it as a C7 or C50?
Hey guys,
can anyone please reply how are your devices working? Unfortunately mine are laying around since I can't find a solution for my devices with suddenly switchting from 1 GbE to 100 Mbit/s and then 10 Mbit/s and back...
Also would love if anyone has find a solution to shut down Broadcom part of device. Maybe @blinkstar88 @numero53 . Do you have any ideas to improve the performance and lower power consumption?
Cheers and happy developing.
I think it is hardware fault, can you restore to original firmware and find out your ethernet is work?
remove ferrite bead from my previous post will cut of modem section.
Hi all!
I'm having the same problem: using an Arduino Due's onboard serial adapter (with the ground pin connected to the reset pin, as explained in the wiki: https://openwrt.org/docs/techref/hardware/port.serial.cables#method_b_no_physical_changes_to_arduino_board), I can't get any output from the router. I'm using the command sudo screen /dev/ttyACM0 115200
and I connected the pins as shown in the wiki (https://openwrt.org/_media/media/tplink/archer_d7_serial_bottom.jpg).
Here's my setup:
Thank you in advance for your help!
Have you tried switching tx/rx wire?
Oh thanks, it worked
hi guys, i am tring to flash the openwrt firmware on tp link archer d7, i am waiting to receive from amazon the ttl adapter ( because with arduino the output is corrupted maybe because of the voltage reference). There is any chance to flash the openwrt firmware directly from a shell opened on the router via telnet?
Hey @jinglei207
Have you found a before and after comparision for power consumption of D7? - I have a new messurement-power-plug which shows 8W idle and 11W with max wifi AC traffic.
Please let us find a solution to minimum the power consuption around 4W like the Archer C7.
