downgrading looks like the way to go.
Wich firmware should i choose?
which one did you have previously ?
Im not sure, 19.x
I dont understand why they link to the the 23.05 when there are issues with this firmware.
I want the newest one that not have a 5ghz Issue
I quickly read the other report about this issue - https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/issues/14089
seems this is happening with the CT ath10k firmware.
use https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=23.05.2&target=ath79%2Fgeneric&id=tplink_archer-c7-v5
and change the package list, remove the -ct part from the
ath10k-firmware-qca988x-ct
and kmod-ath10k-ct
package names.
request a build, try to sysupgrade with the generated image, and keep your fingers X:ed.
This is great advice. I posted a similar question the other day regarding this exact issue I was concerned I may run into. I'll give this a shot in the next few days.
I'm wondering what 5G issue this could be - I have a C7v4 and no issues at all with v19, v21 and v23 (v22 not tested)...
Before going to an old, EOLed and unsupported, version, I'd rather experiment with ath10k-ct vs ath10k. The c7-v5 shouldn't really have any issue to run 23.05.2 (don't own it myself, so only extrapolating from similar hardware).
My Archer C7 v5 has been running for many months on 22.03.3, and I successfully upgraded today to 22.03.6 for a few hours. I let it run and tested it out, and then upgraded to 23.05.2, and have been running that for a few hours with no issues so far.
I have 2 active 5ghz and 2 active 2.4ghz networks running, along with several vlans (work, home, and secured lan). Will keep an eye on it for the next week before I can call it fully successful.
Has anyone any test reports using the 22.03.6 or 23.05.2 firmwares or with using the non-CT firmware? Can the 5 Ghz bug be worked around yet with an in support firmware?
Maybe there is a connection with my 5GHz problem.
It is a C7 v5 with custom image, no ct-firmware
`ath10k-firmware-qca988x`
`kmod-ath10k-ct`
I removed -ct from the firmware package, but not from the kmod-package. 23.05.2 works, but it depends which channel you want to use.
I am now at channel 60 and the max. power is 23dBm. With channel 165 max. power is 13dBm. This is a bug. Fortunately I could change channels.
Did you try another country? Looks like the regulations are very complex. See https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sforshee/wireless-regdb.git/tree/db.txt
