Raspberry Pi 4b with Alfa AWUS036AXML,
OpenWrt 23.05.2 in AP mode
Standard wifi works fine but is to weak for what I need.
I installed it with the driver for the MT7921AU chipset. I used the kmod-mt7921u driver.
At first it seems to work but after a while the wifi signal drops.
This happens at the usb3 and the usb2 port.
Yes, it actually works, and loaded properly, clients connecting without problem, general web browsing OK!
However once I try to use Ookla Speedtest to give it some load, router looks hang, in fact it's the system log reporting the WiFi driver crashing, if I just leave it alone for a few minutes, it will reset and come back, but anyway it can't give too much loading to it.
Just now, I tried with a huge downgrade, by using RPi 3B, which has only 100M ethernet interface, in this case I don't see any drop, running speedtest can give close to 100M without issue.
Tested with Pi3B, using latest master snapshot with my COMFAST CF-953AX, it looks stable (but only 100M uplink which is speed limit of Pi3B), running speedtest filling up 100M trunk is OK, used it for whole night, including now connecting video conference it's OK. Will try on Pi4B again to see if I can reproduce the whole problem.
I tested my CF-953AX with Pi4B, now it works without problem, but the speed of AP isn't really great, I got roughly 200Mbps even device are getting very close to it.
