Adtran SDG 8733 install

Hi,

I got my hands on an SDG 8733 and was wondering how to flash openwrt. I uploaded the kernel.bin file for this router in its upgrade interface but it continues to boot its own software. The sysupgrade.bin file gets rejected by the router.

I was wondering how I would go about flashing to openwrt.

Thanks

I did manage to install openwrt kernel.bin then flash the sysupgrade but I did have to use UART with the routers serial connection. I followed: SmartRG SDG-8733 gateways (also 8733a, 8734)

Sound like you figured it out, but if you run into any issues please post here. I hope to allow upgrade to OpenWrt images via the upgrade interface soon so a console isn't required for initial flashing.

Do you know if by chance there is support for 6GHz? Radio 2 seems to not be active on this router?

The 6G radio works but will be blocked by regdb in the US. There's some good info in #18079

There's a link to a patched regdb for US in the w1700k or sbe1v1k thread.

Hey @linuxsys (and others). I have this device and just created an SDG-8733 device page with the install instructions I followed on it. Hopefully it helps.

Also, see the now "official" device thread here for a (hopefully) good back and forth flow of various users who have this device and discuss its configuration, troubleshoot issues, share information, etc: https://forum.openwrt.org/t/smartrg-sdg-8733-gateways-also-8733a-8734/227830/5
