Adding Support for FR365 v1.2

While the first version of this device got added last year
https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/19203

I got the same device, but version 1.2.
So my question is it easy to add support for the 1.2 version?
While the v1 has

SOC : MediaTek MT7981B 2x A53
RAM : NT5AD256M16E4-JR 512MiB
Flash : ESMT F50L1G41LB 128MB
ETH : 5x 1GbE (1x WAN, 4x LAN) 1x SFP+ (2.5 GbE)
Switch : MediaTek MT7531AE
WiFi : MediaTek MT7976D
Buttons : Reset
Power : DC 12V 2A

These specs seems the same, except for the ram and wifi chip.
My version seems the using Samsung RAM.

Can somebody help me with providing some guidance on how to provide more information and/or make the necessary modifications to the source code for supporting this version of the device?

Firmwares for v1 are usually forward compatible with all v1.x devices.

Hey! I have the same Problem. The https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/25.12.1/targets/mediatek/filogic/openwrt-25.12.1-mediatek-filogic-tplink_fr365-v1-squashfs-factory.bin can not be uploaded in the FR365 V1.20 with Firmware 1.1.0 (20240523)
Any ideas?

Click the GH link from the 1st post, realize you're doing it wrong.

I can’t use UART.
The description from the download-link I posted bevore: “factory image to install via the original firmware's web interface.”

Then you can't install OpenWRT.

It's a boilerplate text, not always applicable (as you've noticed).

GH link is the valid one for your device.

I feel seriously misled. I trusted the statement on the openWRT website (install via web-interface), and it influenced my decision to purchase this device.
Where do you live? Maybe I can send you the device to install openWRT on it?

The onus of checking the initial flashing procedure and support state of the device port is on you, preferably before purchasing a device. Ideally all devices would have a verbose device page in the wiki, laying out the details - but that is not a given and not enforced/ enforceable, what is usually enforced is having these details in the commit message adding support for the device (such as the one listed in the very first post of this thread).

If you don't like OpenWrt, you are free to request a refund for the licensing costs of your OpenWrt copy from your distributor.

Well it looks like the Board changed also the lettering with the v1.2 because the github discription doesn’t match with my board. I’m stuck at the solder bridge and don’t really know where to look.

post a photo of your PCB, not the whole thing, just around the serial header.

Are these Pictures sufficient or do you need more?

R181, R150 appear to cut rx/ tx.

looks exactly like the ER706W Support for TP-Link ER706W? - #4 by Digger.

don't know if it of any use to us, but https://github.com/chill1Penguin/er605v2_openwrt_install works on my FR365 v1.0 to get root access.

grabbed on of these on Amazon, so I wouldn't have to solder, worked like a charm -
