According to https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/ASUS_PCB_ID they're both Broadcom based, meaning it's not happening.

I'm seeing support now for ASUS RT-3100 and RT-AC88U which also appear to be Broadcom based. Any update on this? Or is there something else different about this one? Considering purchase of RT-BE96U and wondering about limitations and future options for it
There is no open driver for broadcom AX or BE. No chance in foreseeable future. Try merlin repackaged oem firmware.
