any iPerf tests, something like between LAN ports, between wireless devices and between LAN and a wireless device?
Ok, so I finally did it. I ordered this thing back in September last year, and it arrived in October. However, I did not have time/confidence to set it up for almost a year. Now I saw that OpenWrt 23.05.0 introduced somewhat âformalâ support for Redmi AX6000, as of RC1-RC3 at least. So, I finally gave it a try.
I consider myself highly technical, but Linux command line is not my strong side. So, it took me about two evenings to follow the manual and get myself first to the stock layout, and then to the U-Boot layout. Now it all works like a charm.
There were a few hiccups, but I could only blame myself for not following the manual carefully enough. Nothing major, I did not have to debrick the deviceâonly to go a few steps back and redo them in the right order without assuming anything
Now, here's the question I have. Assume tomorrow there's RC4 or the final build. Do I only need sysupgrade or should I also flash the bootloader and preloader each time I upgrade?
You don't, unless there's a really (really, really, ...) good reason.
Install luci-app-attendedsysupgrade and you can then re-flash the same series without losing any configuration or extra packages you've installed (or alternatively, the auc
command line package if you wish to continue your Linux CLI journey; auc
does give you a bit more flexibility and control than LuCI Attended Sysupgrade). By default Attended Sysupgrade will look for newer releases on the installed branch, so if you're on 23.05.0-RC3, then it will look for 23.05.x regardless of whether is the next RC or the production release.
(ASU builds a custom firmware package based upon what you've got installed, so if you add banip
or wireguard
or whatever, it detects that and creates an image containing those, saves your config, installs the new image and restores your config. Makes updating a breeze...)

23.05RC4 is out
it's out once there's an announcement in https://forum.openwrt.org/c/announcements/14
Stock version of 23.05RC4 works O.K.
Hi guys,
Has anyone measured the power consumption of this router?
Someone reported about PPPoE issues before. Can anyone tell if it works well on the latest OpenWRT RC/snapshot?
Thanks.
Hello!
Please excuse my English, I'm using Google translator.
Ubootmod layout is installed and working -> https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/redmi_ax6000#installing_openwrt_ubootmod_layout
But, unfortunately, it is impossible to foresee everything at once...
I don't have the CH341A tool, I don't want to act blindly and accidentally break the device. But I think that the device should be controllable, so there are several questions.
- Based on the size of the files, it is obvious that âubootmod-initramfs-recovery.itbâ evolves with each new version of the release candidate, how can it be updated to the current version of the release (rc, or snapshot)?
- How can I change the size of the "initramfs-recovery.itb" subsection after flashing it to ubootmod? Select not 10, but for example 15 MB?
- Already having the ubootmod firmware, how can I go back to step 8 of the uboot mod_layout firmware instructions to skip it?
"8. This is optional. Skip this if you do not want to have NAND recovery boot feature offered by OpenWrt U -Boot. Don't worry, you always have automatic tftp recovery feature enabled."
It seems clear to me that in order to go through the instructions again, repartition the UBI partition and abandon the nand recovery partition, I need to flash and boot into âinitramfsâ, but I donât understand what exactly to flash (I donât know).
Initially all actions were performed with âubootmod-initramfs-factory.ubiâ, but it was flashed and loaded on a stock (Xiaomi) bootloader. But I donât know if itâs possible to flash the image âubootmod-initramfs-factory.ubiâ now, and then it will successfully boot onto ubootmod (owrt bootloader)?
At the same time, now there is already flashed âubootmod-initramfs-recovery.itbâ in memory. But how to boot into it?, does it have SSH access?, and is it possible to install âkmod-mtd-rwâ into it?
I very much hope that you read the TOH page before asking the question, otherwise you should have read the TOH page first instead of coming straight to the question!
Well... hope dies last... It's a joke.
Or Google is not translating me well...
Or you can see and read what is inaccessible to me...
https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/redmi_ax6000 , shows me how to install U-boot mod layout, but I don't need it, I already installed U-boot mod layout.
I need to find out how I can work with recovery (ubootmod-initramfs-recovery.itb), how can I boot into it?
Now I changed my mind about having 10MB allocated for nand recovery, and I want to allocate 15MB, how can I do this?
How can I delete a partition with nand recovery, what do I need to do for this?
Since you can read the answers to questions that interest me in the instructions, while for some reason this is not available to me, I will be sincerely grateful if you quote them to me from the instructions -> https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/redmi_ax6000 .
Thank you!
I flashed my router with the OpenWrt release SNAPSHOT r24084-3aef61060e / LuCI Master git-23.266.27574-7744ad0. I encountered a problem that on some devices the download speed has decreased (currently on Xiaomi 12 Pro, the download speed is 30-90 Mbit/s, before the update it was 200 Mbit/s, on a Windows PC most often the speed reaches 200 Mbit/s). On stock firmware, the speed was high on all devices. my Internet provider provides 200 Mbit/s
I also discovered a problem: if you set your values in the Wi-Fi settings Fragmentation Threshold and RTS/CTS Threshold, when the Wi-Fi is under load the Wi-Fi drops and the event 18000000.wifi is visible in the vlogs: Message 00005aed (seq 14) timeout
and any manipulations with Wi-Fi can lead to this
is there a solution to these problems?
Hi everyone, I think I may have just bricked my device unfortunately. After the router was working perfectly for a week after I set it up initially, today the internet was being very slow I was getting 500 down and now getting 20 down, I confirmed it was this router as I tested a pc on a different network. When I was trying to make different changes in the router to figure out what the issue was every time I pressed apply none of the setting were applying at all, eventually I pressed reset to default to see if that would help and to just start from a clean state but this then stopped my wifi from working and again none of the setting were actually being applied.
I just gave up and decided to just flash it with openwrt-mediatek-filogic-xiaomi_redmi-router-ax6000-ubootmod-squashfs-sysupgrade.itb
and now the LED isn't on and I can't seem to connect to it. I've tried telnet but is not seeming to connect, just saying that Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Ben
If you really have ubootmod layout installed then try establishing a connection via SSH -> ssh root@192.168.1.1
because if you followed the instructions -> https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/redmi_ax6000#installing_openwrt_ubootmod_layout
, point 8, then you should have NAND recovery, and then just follow point 10 of the instructions.
If you skipped step 8 when installing ubootmod layout, then you should restore using the tftp server -> https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=1045443&view=findpost&p=121347557
, or -> https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/redmi_ax6000#debricking
And finally, if you are confused, and in fact, instead of ubootmod layout, you installed stock layout, then read here -> https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/redmi_ax6000#debricking
, or there -> https://forum .openwrt.org/t/xiaomi-mi-router-4a-gigabit-edition-r4ag-r4a-gigabit-fully-supported-and-flashable-with-openwrtinvasion/36685/747?u=mikeeq
Good luck!
Hi thanks for getting back to me.I did 100% install the NAND recovery as I didn't want this to happen... but it doesn't seem to work. SSH doesn't respond. Just to make sure I'm doing the correct thing with the tftp server, I simply open the program, unplug the routers power and plug it back in and there should be new information in the textbox? If this is the case then again nothing appears. I did also install the u-boot layout too I'm 100% certain.
Looks like I may have to go with the uart method if possible.
Index of /releases/ (openwrt.org)
This is here new version (23.05.0 stable)
No, not yet. That tag is only a placeholder until the release announcement is made, which may take a week or two.
Not sure why all the fascination with tagged stable releases... nightly snapshots have been rock solid for me for years now on multiple devices. They are more up-to-date and featureful in general.
first of all you did flash the ubootmod because stock would have leds on at tftp recovery and second if this router is bricked using ubootmod layout then you will have a very hard time recovering it. Good Luck. I also bricked this device tried Uart tried tftp. Uart showed me the logs of whats going on but couldnt send input tftp was open but wasnt accepting the file don't know why. Maybe its bugged or broken recovery.
