Help! Updated Adblock from OpenWrt 19.07.x to the snapshot version 4.1.3.
Installed adblock_4.1.3-3_all.ipk and luci-app-adblock_git-21.191.29791-18d1101_all.ipk but after loggin into Luci the Adblock UI seemed to be stuck.
Uhmmm never mind.. it seems the Adblock UI is not ocmpatible with the Argon Theme I was using. Switchted to bootstrap and UI is workning.
I get the below weird characters as blocked domains they are not in active block lists what are they ?

In the right column you find just all NXDOMAIN requests. NXDOMAIN is nothing but non-existent Internet or Intranet domain name and not necessarily blocked by adblock. Just weird names that can't be resolved ...
Hi all, I'm a newbie on both OpenWrt and Adblock. As far as I see both are great tools created by great minds, no doubt. But I have problem with Adblock in my setup. I have a RPi4B which the OpenWrt 21.02.0 r16279-5cc0535800 / LuCI openwrt-21.02 branch git-21.231.26241-422c175
running on it and I'm using it as my main router/fw. I want to use Adblock which is enabled by default but I think it's not running at all. I checked the forum topics, documentation but can't get it run as expected.
I restarted the service, rebooted the device a few dozen times already but can't get any logs etc.
I'd appreciate any kind of help at this point.
Hi,
I don't know this image, maybe @anon50098793 has disabled this service by default. Check it in LuCI under System=> Startup
And it was disabled by default. Thanks @dibdot!
Hi @dibdot
When i'm run report, adblock always showing too short time between start time and end time report, I don't know why ?
And also, "option adb_trigger" always set to wan even though I have set it to unspecified.

That's only a cosmetic issue, the LuCI comment is just outdated. The current adblock release always tries to set a valid wan interface (if unspecified).
That's the start/end time of the tcpdump file(s), just press "refresh" to get an updated timeline.
Hi
I’ve just been debugging a problem I’ve been having adblock, im running the latest, as of the date of this post, openwrt 21.02.0 et el.
I use google family link for my daughters tablet, phone and PC and had adblock set with safe search’s enabled and some blocklists selected all was working perfect. About a month or a little more ago I started having update problems with family link and just thought it was something in one of the blocklist sources that was blocking a google IP, so expected it to correct itself after a few blocklist updates, needless to say it didn’t.
After a lot of testing here are my finding’s
With adblock disabled family link works as expected.
With adblock enabled and no blocked domains, safesearch on all providers, family link works as expected.
With adblock enabled and one blocked domain, safesearch on all providers, family link fails to update.
With adblock enabled one blocked domain and google unselected in safesearch family link works as expected.
From what I can see if there are no blocked domains the safesearch functionality does not get sent to the adb_list.overall file, I don’t know if this is by design or a bug though.
So in the end the only way I can get family link to work again is to disable safesearch for google. I tried to find a domain that might be causing the problem but unfortunately I can’t find one that gets me round it.
Anyone got any ideas?
I am really not a friend of these monitoring/personal spyware tools ... anyway most probably tools like "family link" already include a restricted/safesearch approach in google search & youtube. Just keep it disabled in adblock.
Yep all ready done that, and yes family link can force safesearch for google (already enabled), but it does not allow for the fact that the PC etc which also goes through openwrt will now not be fully protected by forced safesearch. And yes I have already set the browser on the PC to use google safesearch but that's easy to get round.
I don't really want to use family link, but I have to stop my kids excessive use of screen time somehow.
Just thought someone might have come across this and have a resolution.
UK | Newspaper Sites | Comments apps not loading
I have adblock installed and it is doing a great job of blocking adverts, but it is also blocking the comments sections on some news sites.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk = resolved after whitelisting api.nextgen.guardianapps.co.uk
https://www.express.co.uk = not working despite whitelisting viafoura.net and viafoura.co. VPN + NoScript with viafoura.co enabled, does work?
Any ideas?
I have Scribzee (on Android connected to my router's WIFI) and Adblock by default blocks Scribzee's synchronization. If I stop Adblock, synchronization works.
How can I trace what domains are blocking synchronization?
How can I enable logging and watch what is being blocked?
I was using the adb_jail.list file with dnsmasq manually and works fine with the example:
server=/domain/#
server=/#/
Since the report message feature + the autogenerated list from the gui would be handy I tried switching back to adb.
jail list generation ended up like this:
local=/domain/#
address=/#/
Those parameters are no valid options for dnsmasq.
Am I missing anything?
Do you know why addblock leaves me without internet on a wired pc with windows 10? start the pc and it takes several minutes to have internet, sometimes it is not connected, you have to put ip by dhcp. suspending addblock solves the problem. just say the problem is on wired LAN. wifi devices without problems, 2 pc windows 10, with this problem.

@dibdot awesome package, keep up the fabulous work
I am trying to obtain the "running" status however the command returns nothing. I found BanIP has the same behaviour. My use case is to create a simple HTTP RESTful end point using the luci-app-commands package so I can obtain the running status in Home Assistant. I was expecting this command to return a one word response, i.e. paused, running, stopped, etc. but it returns null.

Hi
-
DNS report has a filter accessible via its Refresh button. What is its format? I wish to exclude some host or domain from results (e.g domain1.com and domain2.net), how to do it?
-
Is it possible to set that filter in the config? If not, could it be added in a close future? I feel it would be useful for many, depending on their usage, to always exclude for instance the router itself from the DNS report.
Starting with dnsmasq 2.86, dnsmasq crashes for me when I enable adblock (segmenation fault). I already tried reducing the blocklist, but the crashes remain. See Adblock crashes dnsmasq (SIGSEGV) in recent trunk
