Adblock support thread

Config looks ok to me... Does the " running" indicator ever stop? Mine only takes 5-10 seconds to finish and say Status / Version: enabled / 4.1.5, along with the next line showing Blocked domains: 337,434 or some big number.

Try logread -e adblock and see if there are any messages that would indicate there's some problem with the loading process.

The running indicator never stops

There doesn't seem to be anything in the logs that tells me what is going wrong. Previous (yesterday) I would get that the service would not start.

It doesn't say why the restart fails

Edit: Oh I know that example.com doesn't work for me in general - is there a way to change it from example.com to something else?

Just check the online readme....the option is called 'adb_lookupdomain'.

Changed it to google and now it works! Just as another random question, do you have any idea why example.com doesn't work for some ISPs? I only discovered this through a totally unrelated incident, where example.com doesn't load for my ISP but works if I use another ISP/proxy. If I hadn't discovered that I would have probably never figured this out.

Thanks for your help!

Hi, i'm using simple-adblock and wants to block facebook site. need Help

This is for AdBlock thread and not for simple-adblock. They are different packages.

Hi, i'm using tp-link router with RAM of 128mb
i want to block some sites for clients on lan and wifi
i installed adblock but i dont know how it works ....

Need Help in this task...

Thanks in Advance

He uses a dated archer model (crossposting in another thread) with 128 MB RAM, I think he means flash size ...

thanks for correcting me

I do hope you also installed luci-app-adblock for easier management. You just need to add the domains you want to block in the "Edit Blocklist" section.

Then just Reload/Restart Adblock from the Overview tab.

i have done this ... still able to access it

this what i have selected

In the other thread you said the opposite - which is true? Anyway, please show us the output of ...
nslookup twitter.com (on the client)
/etc/init.d/adblock query twitter.com (on the router)

Thanks!

on Router:
qw

on client:
nslokup

its working now... have to reload adblock after every change wait for some seconds.

One more question please...
can we block sites for specific ips like blocking some sites for kids?

Thanks

OISD domain is incorporated inside it's own blocklist... Ahahaha.. But why!??

root@BlackBunnyBravo1Conan /root [#]# /etc/init.d/adblock query oisd.nl

Based on my test, it's impossible to block the instgram app. It looks like it's directly calling ig api's through IP rather than using a domain
