Adblock stops Android notifications

Hi there,
I have a TPLink Onhub that I recently flashed with OpenWRT as google stopped the support a while ago.
It is working fine but when I enable Adblock (I installed adblock+luci-app-adblock) it stops android devices from getting notifications (whatsapp for example) when the phone is locked, even unlocked I need to open the app first to get notifications.
I noticed the issue as when I disconnect my phone from the wifi, I then get loads of notifications in one go.
For example I was on my phone at 23:00 browsing facebook, then later at 23:10 I open WhatsApp to send a message and boom I got a notification that a message was sent to me at 22:41. Then I send my message and navigate to another app, I then receive a reply to my message for which I am notified normally.
Another example I was away from home and sent a whatsapp message to my partner at home (on wifi), for me the message was shown as sent but not received, I then remotely accessed my home network, disabled Adblock and shortly after the message was received by my partner.

In Adblock Safesearch is enabled, but the results are the same when it is disabled.

My Onhub Opwnwrt router is behind my ISP router, that ISP device cannot be set to modem mode, so it is set up to direct traffic to me OnHub (Onhub is exposed host/in DMZ).

The Onhub uses Cloudflare 1.1.1.3 and 1.0.0.3 "family" DNS

Any idea how to troubleshoot this?

figure out what adblock list/DNS name is causing this, and add it to the white list.

Thanks, I added services.googleapis.com to my whitelist but the issue remains (got the idea from this issue which you had contributed as well , busy man).
If I can't work out what to add in the whitelist, how can I change what lists are being blocked? sorry I am new to openwrt.
If I untoggle all options here, am I effectively not blocking anything? therefore notifications should work then

did you restart adblock afterwards ?

tried the test from the thread you've linked to ?

there's an Enabled checkbox in the General Settings tab.

Yes I had restarted adblock after adding in the whitelist.
Not sure which test you were referring to, I got lost in that thread a bit.
I had verified before if adblock was paused or disabled then notifications were blocked.
Anyway I unticked all sources in the list (I had 4 of them), then re added them one by one, then doing a reload and testing notifications and of course it is all working ok now after all 4 sources are added and adblock reloaded and restarted.
So I don't know, I'll keep monitoring and change the sources if it happens again.
