19.07.0 ath79 nand (WNDR4300v1)

Hi guys,

I'm in the progress of doing updates of my OpenWRT gear to 19.07.0. Just migrated my Netgear WNDR3700v2 to ath79 and it just worked fine.
I wanted to do the same for my Netgear WNDR4300v1, when I noticed that there are no images listed in releases/19.07.0/targets/ath79/nand/. The device page still lists an ar71xx image, while the ar71xx-ath79 dummy target page lists it as ath79 ready.

Can someone please shed some light on what's going on with ath79 NAND stuff? It seems a lot of images are missing. Are those NAND devices EOL'ed with 19.07 by having just ar71xx builds?

WNDR4300 has been migrated to ath79 in October 2019, 4 months after the 19.07 branch was branched off.

So, the device has ath79 support in master, but not yet in the 19.07 branch (that mainly contains the source code in June2019)

Thanks hnyman for the explanation. That clarifies it all.

As for the future:
Is version 19.07.01 going to be branched of the master branch and thus going to contain the WNDR4300 support, or is it just going to receive selected fixes from the master branch as it is usual for point releases?

No. The 19.07 was branched off in June 2019 and lives a completely separate life from master.

Yes.
