Topic: minor nit in the UsbStorageHowto

The content of this topic has been archived on 13 Apr 2018. There are no obvious gaps in this topic, but there may still be some posts missing at the end.

I did everything as described in the UsbStorageHowto at http://wiki.openwrt.org/UsbStorageHowto
but strangely enough lost network forwarding once my root was pivoted (I could ping the internet
from the router, but not from clients attached to it).

Might this have to do with the fact that S96pivotroot is executed before S99sysctl?

Manually executing S99sysctl or changing the links to
S98sysctl
S99pivotroot

did solve the problem (ie clients could connect to the internet once more).

If my analysis is correct, someone should change this howto.

Good luck,
Jurriaan

Anybody has access to edit the wiki. If this is the proper way to implement this, then go ahead and make the edit.

The UsbStorageHowto in most parts is obsolete. You just have to replace the /sbin/init script and then copy the flash content to the external storage. Whatever external storage is e.g. USB pen drive, IDE HDD or even an MMC card.

The script replacement should look like this one: http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Kam … MediaHowTo (this page isn't finished yet. I'll try to finish it this weekend)
