Hi,

After installing(with no notable problems)

router won't boot .nor ping to 192.168.1.1

re connecting via putty-telnet to 10.10.12.2 9000 WORKS after power/off/on restart. so are redboot commands..

I've repeated installation 3 times & followed 'Verify OpenWrt installation'(on installation guide web page) procedures with no luck.

Here are 'fis list' &  'fconfig -l' (after installation)results:

Any help will be highly appreciated.

This device has only 16MB RAM -> too little to do something useful.
32MB minimum required for OpenWrt/LEDE, even better 64MB.

BTW: This might be of interest for you: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php … 99#p304399

It crashes alot but functions.

-> due to low RAM

Hi,

Thank you very much for replying.

can you clear the following issue :

The 16mg RAM size is a known fact as it is described in the 'OpenWrt installation guide web page' :

(wiki.openwrt.org/toh/3com/3crwer100_75)

Hardware Highlights

CPU    Ram    Flash    Network    USB    Serial    JTag
Atheros 2315A@180MHz    16MiB    4MiB    1 + 4    No    Yes    ?

2005-JAN, FastEthernet, 5Port, integrated, 802.11bg, 2Ant, DetachableAntenna, 16RAM, 4Flash, Serial

so - how can there's an installation guide for a device that cannot be installed?(due to lack of RAM)

in other words : what am i missing?

please elaborate.

Thanks again

The age of that device.

Software isn't getting smaller over time (new features, changing environments, bugfixes, etc.) - and the limits are shifting depending on your use case and the exact configs used for building OpenWrt. Please read https://lede-project.org/meta/infobox/432_warning for details.

The formal cut-off for devices with 16 MB was 2012 (in practice those devices already ceased to work in a reasonable fashion well before).

Hi,

again, thank you for reply.

what assured me was the fact that the last OpenWrt Version was set on 2016 :

'2016/08/12 16:05  3Com 3CRWER100-75 – [Switch Ports] andreajvc (current)'(see vers' history on Device's page)

anyway, i understand that although the device's spec' match & the OpenWrt vers' was updated about a year ago. it is still consider incompatible.

Thank you

BR
