Topic: TP-LINK MR3020 insufficient free space

Hello everyone,

I tried the MR3020 and the A5-V11 as portable wi-fi hotspots, by plugging a 3G USB dongle and sharing that internet connection.
The MR3020 is way better, as it used up a 10000 mAh battery in over 24 hours as opposed to about 10 hours for the A5-V11.

But I can't set up the 3G dongle on the MR3020. Trying to follow the tutorial on the wiki "Use 3g/UMTS USB Dongle for WAN connection" but I can't install most of the required packages as there are just 4 KB of free space on the router.

I would gladly list whatever I have installed on it and perhaps someone can tell me what it is that I don't need for routing the 3G internet connection to the wired port and via wi-fi. Or maybe there is another way?

Please help.

Re: TP-LINK MR3020 insufficient free space

I suspect I can't uninstall packages because they're on that SquashFS filesystem. Removing a package will just not make it go away.

So I guess I have to make myself a custom build.

Re: TP-LINK MR3020 insufficient free space

Exactly.  Run-time removing a package that is built into the squash actually reduces free space.  The squashed files are still there, and a mark is made in the overlay to flag them as deleted.
