Topic: WL-HDD cannot connect after "wan_proto=none"

I have recently purchased the Asus WL-HDD2.5 and would like to install OpenWrt on it. The installation runs smoothly (I am using openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx), however when I update the wan_proto variable with "nvram set wan_proto=none; nvram commit" (as instructed http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Asus/WL-HDD all contact is lost, and I am forced to reflash the device.

Not setting wan_proto is not an option, as it seems to screw up the issuing of dhcp.

Can anyone help?

Regards
Rumagent

Re: WL-HDD cannot connect after "wan_proto=none"

I had the same problem. I solved it by going into failsave mode and setting wan_ifname=none.
Currently the system is off, but I can send you my nvram settings and a little script, which watches the resetbutton and umounts any filesystem mounted from a harddisk, so you can just press reset, wait a while and power the thing off.

That would be greatly appreciated:) The script sounds cool.

Re: WL-HDD cannot connect after "wan_proto=none"

Sorry for the delay, here's a transcript from a session on the WL-HDD. Mine is configured as a wireless client. I have not cleaned up the nvram variables that are not used by OpenWRT.

Kind regards,
Stephan
