Since the l7 iptables module is broken for some time now, did someone try to port ndpi over to openwrt?
https://github.com/ntop/nDPI

I tried to for Gargoyle, but I'm an amateur make file writer at best and kept running into cross compile issues.
I'd be very interested if someone more clever than I could provide a makefile I can work with.
But this is slightly off topic in this thread.

I believe there are other packages that provide the same service... while I can't remember the name, I believe it has upnp (or maybe it was p2p) somewhere in the name.

Not wanting to be picky, but you can't measure the speed with 127 packets received and only 3 sent.

Nice. Try setting up ath0 to VHT40 to get full 600 Mbps wink

Has anyone successfully built LEDE with the 4.7.x kernel, for the WRT1200AC v1 ?  If so, what patches need to be removed?

Thanks,

Mike

@sera  Would you like me to include links to your builds in the Wiki?

Technically it's not a build, just source code. A proof a concepts. A means for users to verify their bugs on something that's much closer to upstream (linux). A basis for bisecting kernel bugs. A play ground for own experiments. A TODO for our devices. Someone looking for something to just put on their routers probably better looks somewhere else.

Most of it should be upstreamed (linux/openwrt). The idea of using an initramfs was well received by the developer who wrote those mount patches I dropped. So one of the items I was sceptical it would be accepted is no road block either. It might be the whole series disappears into thin air. That would be the most desirable outcome.

For now I collect reports and steadily make changes ready for upstream inclusion. I don't mind you adding it to the wiki but think there is little value in doing so.

Edit: I believe the vast majority of users is best served with the new CC builds by Kaloz https://downloads.openwrt.org/people/kaloz/ so those should be clearly visible on the wiki.

@sera Thanks for explaining =]  I'll get kaloz's builds added today or tomorrow

lol  I probably should have articulated that a bit better.  l7 iptables mod allows for blocking p2p & IM protocols, however it's a fairly old pkg (2009 was the last update).  I do know I came across at least one other package that appeared to perform the same functions when I was reading through a few wiki pages for something unrelated.

Essentially, while one could still manually write out all the iptables commands to firewall.user that l7 would apply (netfilter would be a better, more convenient solution if a user chose to do this), it makes it far easier for users looking to specifically block those types of access on their network.

I think he means ipp2p. Which worked quite well back in the days. But no update since 2007 or so.

I see it use's ARM OpenWrt Linux-3.18.36

What ver of wifi driver does it have?

He put it up after this version. So one back.

Edit:
@sera, The 4.7 build I made with the latest patch-set reboots my v1 when I start to put a load on the device. I put a note in the directory but have left it in place for now. Have not tried collecting any debug data, I flashed UBI.

The one that added support for the wrt1200ac v2 and the wrt1900acs v2. That version is also new enough to have all important fixes. Those builds by Kaloz are about as close as you can get to a 15.05.2 release as currently possible.

So if you just want to set up your device and use it Kaloz images are a great choice, if you want to join us in our fun in what went wrong today territory you need to opt for something more experimental.

Could it be caused by dropping the revert-i2c-delay patch? Anyway if you can produce relevant logs that would be great.

@sera can you elaborate " those mount patches " ?

i see some benefits deinstalling packages from root...

thnx.

The 7 patches to avoid using an initramfs or fixing the arguments passed to the kernel by u-boot for mounting root.

Are Kaloz's builds from  8/11 utilizing kernel 3.18.36?  If not, what version?  Also, what mwlwifi version is he utilizing?

I've added Kaloz's builds under Stable Branch, and not Third Party Builds. as his builds are hosted by OpenWrt, implying they're at least semi-official builds.  I would like to hear feedback from others if this makes sense, or whether it should be moved to the Third Party section.

Kaloz is the platform maintainer, so calling them semi-official is certainly ok and they are based on the stable branch so the placement isn't wrong, also a 15.05.2 release would replace them.

Far more important than kernel version is that those images are usable by the new v2 models and that others can use them as a stable branch build with recent mwlwifi.

@sera  Just to confirm, that's the V2 for the WRT1200AC & WRT1900ACS right?

Correct.

I was running CC 15.05.0 on an ACv1 and also have CC 15.05.1 on an ACS. I've been wanting to update the ACv1, so I grabbed this release from the Kaloz link below, and it's marked as 15.05.1 and running what looks to be a much older version of Luci than what's on my 15.05.1. I thought I was updating. Can anyone verify that this is the latest with all the wireless updates? Ok to use 5GHz now?

I downloaded from here ... https://downloads.openwrt.org/people/kaloz/

I installed that image on my WRT1900ACSV2, 5GHz is working. The OpenWrt theme/design was the default rather than the more modern looking Bootstrap theme - is that what you mean? It's in System > System > Language and Style > Design.

Firmware Version: OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.05.1 / LuCI (git-15.276.51144-8832d53)
Kernel Version: 3.18.36
