I have a D-Link 810L B1 and have no clue where to start as far as installing OpenWRT. The router currently has DDWRT installed on it. I have looked all over this site, and the web and can't understand how to install it. Do i have to use the TTL adapter listed here?

There is no prebuilt version of Barrier Breaker that I can find for it. The ones available are all system upgrades.
I have tried reading the "how to" for building my own but I do not understand the instructions.

Firstly, do you need wireless?  As it appears it is not working on this router right now.

Secondly, Chaos Calmer is the latest release.

Thirdly, it should be possible to install using DD-WRT from the console.  I'm trying to find the instructions as I cannot remember how to do it.

It sucks that the wireless is not working, but I still want to try to get it to work so that I can try openwrt. If I love it I will change buy a router later. I have a backup for now.

Wow, this is frustrating.  I have found it mentioned twice that you CAN flash it from DD-WRT to OpenWRT using the console but no mention of specifically what you need to do for that to work.

About a year ago I converted a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300N from DD-WRT to OpenWRT.  Below is the set of notes I took/have from the conversion.  I do not think that these are exclusively mine, meaning they probably were copied from this site and edited with my details( http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/buffalo/wzr-hp-g300h =>Migrate from DD-WRT to OpenWrt).  I do not recall.  Hope this helps.  T43 is my IBM laptop.  I think the 192.168.11.1 is for the Buffalo specifically.  Check what defaults your vendor may use

Enter new user and password

Access router and enbale SSH under Services=>Services
No other config is needed.

Verify router has a WAN address.  If not release\renew IP from Status=>WAN or reboot router.

Access router via putty at 192.168.11.1 (port 22)
NOTE: a warning will be presented alerting user about security. => YES

I tried this and the wget functions will not get the file. It says connecting and never downloads it. Any suggestions?

I've created a factory image of 15.05.1 for the DIR-810L by modifying the sysupgrade with a hex editor.  I uploaded it to 4shared and it can be obtained here --> http://www.4shared.com/file/s_mtLVpzce/ … 5__1_.html

For those who don't feel safe downloading and installing my image you can convert the sysupgrade to a factory image by replacing the last entry of the sysupgrade.bin with the line indicated here:  http://imgur.com/zxjWM6i

Regardless of what image is installed in your DIR-810L you can enter the emergency image upload page by holding the factory reset button while powering on the router and releasing the reset pin when the orange LED starts slowly flashing.  Also remember to set your PC to static IP 192.168.0.10/24 w/ gateway 192.168.0.1 while connected to the LAN.

Could you please re-upload the image? I just got one of these for under $20 and the old saying is true "you get what you pay for"... However its for my mother and still better than the old Net-gear she had. Thanks for compiling an image for the community.

Now If I could just get a precompile with JUCI. I have compiled a handful of things before, but openwrt is a bit much at this time.

4shared /file/vSWNyZn8ce/factory--to-openwrt1505 that's version 15.05 and i just upgraded my router with this exact version today.  I had to scatter the URL because of some posting restriction here so I'm sure you can figure it out.

Is the 5 GHz radio on the 810L working as of 15.05 and newer? I'm considering picking these up, as they're cheap and have 8MB Flash / 64MB RAM.

Thanks allot for the image! I have no idea what security is being used on this thing! I tried your image and still get same result?? I was able to get it to flash a dd-wrt image, but ONLY USING Serial Port! That was a couple months ago. I cannot even upgrade to a different distro. I can stay within ddwrt, but not Open-WRT or LEDE.
**FYI Anyone wanting to use these things... MUST Upgrade VIA SERIAL** I may try to ssh in and "burn" an image that way Every attempt says successful, but upon reboot shows a default "factory/ or ddwrt" image. If all else fails I will break out the cables and take it back apart and burn something worth having. I dont really like dd-wrt or that community. I am truly stressed out trying to setup a client on a dual band mediatek with dd-wrt!

My unit is a A1 revision, just in case it matters.
