Great news, looking forward to hearing how this tests out.

FYI
https://github.com/kaloz/mwlwifi/commits/master

I tried the changes today.
Unfortunately, the changes don't appear to fix the performance issue.  Performance is no better (perhaps worse) than it was prior to  today's commits.

And this is compared to the change you've been testing, correct? It seems LogicoZone is seeing an improvement while you aren't?

The new images are up.. If possible, I would people with serial console to check, in case mwlwifi or something would error out.

No wrtpat tested with first set of fixes from Marvell .. People replied to the origional issue that it still wasn't fixed. Then LogicoZone tested after a second set of patches from Marvell was submitted... It looks like the second set of changes may have fixed the issue.

i think perhaps its better to just stop and not worry about a custom build. Thats going to open a whole new can of worms most likely.

Why i say this?

After i installed your customer built image for me. I tried to install "python-pip" as i normally do, but this time i got this error message:

root@OpenWrt:~# opkg install python-pip
Installing python-pip (1.5.6-1) to root...
Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/ … mvebu.ipk.
sh: /tmp/opkg-tugV6q/python-pip-iDgPko/preinst: Permission denied
Collected errors:
* pkg_run_script: package "python-pip" preinst script returned status 126.
* preinst_configure: Aborting installation of python-pip.
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package python-pip.

Perhaps, you had tried to include it into the image, but possibly it error ed out and got excluded due to some errors behind the seen?
Anyways, i do appreciate your help but i wont waste your time anymore. ill stick to manually installing the packages i need.

EDIT: i reverted back to the original KALZOs March 23rd snapshop image was running. im getting the python pip errors on that also. Looks like  something change in the repo?

I had opened a ticket at openwrt.org for this. Just saw an udpate that said

fixed in r45187

Is that revision the same as kalzon's latest Mar 31st build?

@alirz

r45187 is dated about an hour ago.

Got it-- "latest" wasn't clear from LogicoZone's post given the additional commits from Marvell were a couple of hours before his post.

I've built an image against those second set of changes this morning-- testing that now.

Curious-- is this consistent? What happens if you sysupdate without keeping settings?

Haven't risked trying to reboot (which actually might be the root cause) after getting everything set up.

Haven't tried without keeping settings and likely won't have time to do so until next weekend.

However, my settings haven't changed for many, many builds, and re-importing the same settings after a factory reset results in stable operation (at least if I don't reboot).

Right now I need to use my connection rather than risk it smile, but I just wanted others to be aware that something wasn't right.

Anyone out there experiencing this that has a serial connection to their router such that they can tell us what is going on?

Dang, jinked myself-- lost my overlay on a flash this morning. Don't see anything obvious from the boot though sad

Will continue to watch it...

Hey there!
Has anyone tried to use the package "debootstrap" to install Debian on WRT1900, I can not make Debian install in startup. Previously put Debian on WRT350n v2.1 as described -https: //wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/D-Link/DIR-825, but now it does not work.
Who has any ideas?
Thank U

no problem instaling the latest from the trunk

I believe this link always has the latest trunk builds: https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots … actory.img

Is there a way to tell which revision a particular image is i.e which r4xxxxx ?
There's a possible fix for one of the issue i had reported to openwrt. Its supposedly fixed in 45187

I would like to know when would i be able to download an image that would include the fix.

Thanks.

belliash wrote:

hmm ... iperf3 doesn't show 30MB/s ;-)
BTW: Did you compile trunk? Or you had to modify anything?

I compiled against 45170 with couple packages rolled back to previous version such as "ustream-ssl", "e2fsprogs" and patch for transmission.

Other than those, it's trunk of 45170. I also use sysupgrade from Kaloz's 3/23 image with keep settings checked.

daily build bot information is here. It takes almost a day to complete a build. And current running build is 45186. So you have to wait one more day for it.

http://buildbot.openwrt.org:8010/builde … builds/441

Actually, it seems r45187 may not fix it.

I went to Kaloz latest image dated March 31, and I bricked my router.  I am back up again, and using the trunk image and it says:  r45157

For me, everything has been "great" overall with wifi performance for well over a week.  Before that, it was "good/ok" since the end of February.

Whatever updates that were released around March 20th seemed to help the overall performance.
I think I am at at point where I am just going to leave it on and see how stable it really is.

I did have one more question.  In luci, under Network, Wifi, the General Setup tab(2.4Ghz), why does it not show the mode or channel?  It seems to display it in the status graphic above.  It does show everything in the 5Ghz radio.

Could it be that the changes I made to \etc\config\wireless are not supported in LUCI?

Thanks for your development work.

One thing Im a little bit confused about.
Are latest patches to mwlwifi available in trunk or only in build prepared by Kaloz?

belliash wrote:

No. I don't think Kaloz push the latest mwlwifi to trunk yet. Also, it seems Kaloz pulled off the 3/31 build maybe due to the kernel panic error.

I dont think this kernel panic is related to mwlwifi.
Doesnt look like.

BTW: I am observing strange behaviour big_smile
`df -h` says there is only 26.5M on rootfs. I was installing additional packages and the free space was decreasing, until it came to about 95% used. Then after a while `df -h` launched one more time showed about 20% used space. So i decided to install more packages and situation repeated. It looks really strange, like sth would be removing / compressing data in the background. :-|

I know it's not mwlwifi since I'm running fine with latest mwlwifi driver.
