With the present routers having large RAM sizes, it's no problem to increase the dnsmasq cache size significantly.

Thank you for the tip. And it makes sense with the amount of memory in routers these days. I've bumped my cachesize up to 1000 for now and will test for a few days. It's barely taken a dent out of my free memory so far. So I may increase it in a few days if necessary.
