@slboat: could you also give a short explanation why you need an external flash socket and sacrificed the ethernet port for it?

Actually, I like the flash socket.
But as MBS says, why sacrifice the ethernet?
devil's advocate says that if you are screwing around with flash so much that you need a socket, then you should know how to use serial recovery

Thats what confuses me: no external ethernet, no external serial, wifi normally off by default or in failsafe - how to communicate with the device in the first place?

the only reason to me,it's make a hole is sacrificed the small box for the wr703.

i not need use the lan,and if bad thing happen,i can push the reset button more than 10second to reset  everything,i mean if really bad thing happens.
but mostly,the first config to me,its just need use the inside ttl cable to do that work.
